I fished winchelsea last night, low to couple hours b4 high. we had couple bass - mainly around the low.
does this place fish better on the smaller tides - yesterdays was a big spring and flooded in so quick, (was a good plan to wear waders!) with quite a bit of weed close in.
anyone got any opinions on how to fish it - will prob go back there at end of month/sept.

hi fella good to hear peeps fishing there too i fish pett by the fishing club house and find big springs over low water to produce the fish at range in the shallow water 140 to 160yds is still only 4 5 ft deep and with an onshore wind chucks up the breakers and the bigger fish all taken on lug never had any luck on other baits

hope this helps

yeah, very shallow, was wading out a good 40yards... in 2ft water! but with yesterdays sw water was nice and choppy and muddy. looked perfect. Meant to add we were at dogs hill road/street area.

anywhere along there produces bass but ive found it to be slightly better pett fairlight end nice few gullys that you can reach in the big springs if you can cast 130yds plus still shallow but the fish seem to hide in the gullies

just keep an eye out for the woody stuff in the surf you need to have a look at low to sus out where to fish youll spot it straight away rocks and clayey stuff to the right clear mid rocks to the left watch out though tide comes in super fast dont get cut off like i did the first time i fished there youll make youreself look a right pratt

The mark I fish at Winchelsea\Pett is a channel up at the Pett end, it really is the only sand channel between the rocks.
Every-time SpecialistSea and myself fish it we always end up wading back through surf, last time I fished that end I had a 3lb Codling ! a week after nailing a 7.5 Bass ( different mark).
I wish I was confident enough to whack it out on the rocks and the gulleys between, because that's where the big Bass would be.

Why not incorporate a rotten bottom into your rig then you can fish into the rocks with no problems. At worst if you get snagged you'll only lose your lead. As you say, thats where the better fish will be.
