Who uses this lure ??? Have you had much joy with it ......

Are you using it right do you feel ???

Some wannabe Cornish guide seems to be struggling with it , that's all ...

I was wondering how you all use yours ,,, maybe we could help those that are useless with it .....

Said it before ,,, I'll say it again ,,,,,

It's the BEST BASS lure I've ever used bar none ..........

It doesn't cast the best ,,,but with a good bull whip cast , it goes plenty far enough .........

So life like ,,,, so erratic ,,,, it's beyond deadly for bass ....

Maybe a bit complicated for weak in the mind types ,,,, as thought is needed ......

It's a suspending lure ,,,,,( so there's a clue ) ,,,,,( hang time etc ) .........

To many people just throw out every lure they own ,,,,,

Crank all of them back , same pace ...........it's sad to see really ..........

ALL lures have a sweet spot ,,,, find the rhythm ,,,, it's the same every time ..............

If the wannabe wants a guide with it ,,, not a problem ...........

Along with the gun fish ,,,,,,, there's only two top guys with it ............

ME ,,, AND ,,,, ME ......... .......

those that don't have one ,,, trust me get one ,,,,,,,,

Ill put up an exact way to use .........

May even draw a diagram for the dumb one .........

Cheers

Mark ...

Ps ,,, can't go wrong with ayu colours ...............

Very very good in all lures .....

Great lure and great value .
I use mine as follows : a short turn or two of the reel to get it down then a good sweep of the rod to get it down & vibrating ... whind the rod back towards it .. wait a second or two then repeat the sweeping action again and again ..
If that makes sense .

I bought the lure in both 10 & 12 several years ago, after hearing so much about it from Mark333 on here. I use the 12 mostly, just because I prefer bigger lures & it's deadly ....cast out wait... wind until you feel the lure & twitch 2 or 3 times pause.... wind again but slowly 2 or 3 turns & twitch again. This method works for me.

I have been looking for a hard suspending lure to for quiet some time and for only one reason durability...

I have found the sweet spots for all my soft lures and have covered all types of conditions with them each one has there time and place and i always catch with them and it gets a bit too predictable and easy tbh.

So it would be really nice to change things up and catch Bass with something different like a suspending hard lure. i haven't got any of them so it would make for a really good challenge at the end of the day.

I always feel a suspending lure would be the way to go for this and the X rap may be the lure for the job.

The specifications look very appealing for the model 10 X rap it weighs in at 13 grams with a running depth of 1.2-1.8 meters and being a Rapala it should be fairly durable.

I might have to pay a visit to the Rapala shop when I go to Finland next year :whistling::whistling:

X raps in all sizes are awesome lures. Used to use the 10 all the time years ago and had many bass, mostly schoolies but up to 7lb. To be fair I just used to cast them and crank them. Silver/black and ghost worked best for me. Maybe with Mark's tips I may dig them back out and show them the water again.

Incidentally I have caught a butterfly ray on the 12 hooked in the mouth. And a 90lb tarpon on the 14. Plus many other fish.

To me the X rap is the greatest lure of all time.

its like every lure mark it has its time and place
i done well on it in nice quite estuarys
with a slight ripple
but it seems to go well when fish are spooked through over casting an area
never found they caught in very deep water though

The x rap was the first hard plastic that got me a bass, it was the 12 in blue mackerel. Use the the 10 in ayu regularly when distance is not an issue. Will often be the first lure out of the box when i arrive at a mark because if i dont get a take on it i may move on or at least change methods. I like to mix the the retrieve up quite a bit with side swipes of the rod at the beginning to get the depth and vibration going (as davemc said) fast and slow turns of the reel and lots of pauses/twitches. Takes normally occur on the pause and when the water is clear enough to see the follow, i will always pause with maybe a slight twitch, as this produces the most hook ups, especially when the fish is under the rod tip.

A nice lure and a great Bass catcher, but not a great caster (better thana Yozuri minnow but that's not saying much).

Works really well at night as well, the Bass can find it on the blackest of nights, but it's never served up a big fish for me. I think it's just too irrisistable for the sub 5lb fish - they race to hit it.

And the Pike love it to bits! I've broken several bibs off my collection, but they're easy enough to repair (heat welding).

SCG :)

good lures in most all the sises ..
and i dont think they cast bad for a big lipped lure..
most company's sell them under the jerkbait category,so there is a clue..
a good alternative method is to hold your finger on the line above the spool ,acts like that line dancer gimmick ,rod held up.
I found a good alternative in the Jokazuma copy..casts better but swims to deep..so trim the lip on it.

Like Hens says it’s designed as a jerk bait so I wind down and rip it with pauses an d some turns and twitches chucked in - don’t know if it is the best way but it usually gets hit on the pause.
Can’t wait for Mark to let us in on his method- that’s one secret I thought he’d never share!:eeks:
Also like the whitish colour that seems slightly fluorescent in dark.
Having said that my favourite hard is the Hound Glide that came from a certain box o doom! Love it.
Incidentally I think a lot of what Mark says in his post on rods applies to lures as well
I think I would be better of with six lures that I was a master of than loads that I ain’t.Especially since I made the same mistake with flies years ago- tied up dozens different patterns but rarely used more than six.

Took 4 years to perfect ,,,, works every time bass are present ,,, every where I use it ..............

Your right ,,,, to valuable lol .........Ill need something in return ......

Like how to use a bass arrow , or the large feed popper or something .........

Or someone explain a myfish thread to me ,,,,, ( that means you would have to read one till the end ,,, sorry )

Getting close to him popping in again soon for sure ...........

Pointless me telling you how to use an x rap ,,,,,, I expect he was in the design project for it .........

Plus my way be wrong ...............

Apart from silly little ten a penny schoolies of the top ,,,, like pounders on a p 100 .........

The x rap is the only lure , that got me 9 bass in a row ,,, in 9 casts ,,,,, all 2.5 to 5 pound plus ...........

I had a hit on tenth cast to ,,, missed it ,,, but caught on the 11th ........

For a diving lure , I think that's pretty special ........

Prob done it loads time with baby surface bass .....p 100 is schoolie magnet .......

Ill share it Barry ,,, when this passes 10000 views lol

First lure I ever caught on after struggling to find them, in the end I ordered it from the CI. Well actually 2 I think that was after reading how good they were on here.

It’s not worked for me recently though. So the dude does not get much air time.

When I first had it I used it a lot but failed to hook up on it. I tried always, even had a PM from Mark giving me an insight into using it but still failed, I have to admit I was failing on my other lures too. Judging by most of the comments I think a few more extended pauses a jerks were in order
