Hi,
Have been having great sucess with Megabass Zonks lately... especially the Inakko Mullet pattern.. some huge fish in very rough conditions and fairly low water clarity . (it's the beak and the holes for sure)
they seem to get the bigger fish more than any other lure and boy do they cast..

The areas I am fishing requires a diver of between 4 and 8ft so the Zonk hits the spot well.

However....

They are pretty weak with rubbish hooks (changed) and the beak does not stand up well to the knocks that you have to expect in the sort of ground that produces decent fish. One has snapped completely the other is getting that way.
I am not in any way moaning as they were never designed for this type of fishing. But is there another lure out there with the same good points as the Zonk, (action, castability, depth) but with the robust bib of say a Yo-zuri or Rapala?

Is there anything in the Duo Tide minnow range that goes deep 4-8ft as these look fantastic but don't go deep enough for me.

Thanks

I'd second that, the Zonk does seem to stand out there on its own.

I have been using the Hacker by Duo alot recently, and getting some good results. They are nothing like a Zonk in all fairness, but they cast really well for a deep lure and dive about 8 or 9ft I recon. These are the two colours that have been doing it here at the mo, Doug had a couple over 4 on it last week.

The live X Revenge from Megabass, goes to maybe 10ft but keep rod tip pointing to sky and maybe down to 3or so ft. vibrates like a good un and although same brand as zonk the lip on mine is fine... hooks light but still sharp n i fish round dorset coast so rocks and stones everywhere...

Manny is right, the Live-X revenge is a fantastic little lure that dives deep and casts miles for its size. Its pointed beak means you can crank it fast too and it has a very vibration wobble rather than an exagerated wobble that is usually found on big lipped lures.

My daughter Nicola out fished me today with her Zonk, we popped out from work for a couple of hours this afternoon and she had two on the Zonk, I had one on the Hacker!! Bloody kids, she wont let me forget it either!!

She'll love you even more for that Mick. Have you told her she can pimp her zonk yet? You know what girls are like. LOL

oh my.....have they arrived yet fella??
No mate, you have a PM.

I love the action of the Imakatsu Rip Rizer. I've only used it in FW but you can rip it (as the name suggests) then let it wiggle it's way up to the surface on the stall. It's got a fixed rear weight so it's sits nose up in the water, only dives when you crank it so when you stop it automatically goes nose up and floats to the surface with a wiggle. I'd have a go at it if I was a fish !!!
