4-6oz general-purpose rod. Has cast near to 250yards on the field. The early ones from the mid 80's were heavier than the pictured one, some had alloy butts, the alloy butt had a glass liner fitted so the blanks joint didn't wear so badly as it would with bare alloy. Many still in use, their owners often say "can't see any point in changing, the rod is that good".
You can't go wrong with a 2500.

thanks phil.just what i wanted to hear:) .i thought it better to buy a good second hand rod rather than a new one.for 87 quid i think i got a bargain?.

might have to come down to one of your classes some time in the future and learn how to use it proper if thats ok.?
Anytime on a Sat PM or Mon Eve. On these sessions cost is NIL, but we might end up having to retrieve the lead from the saloon bar! PM me if you want to come to make sure i'm not on hols or something.

I`ve still got a 2500lm that`s about 10 years old, really user friendly top rod that`s first and foremost a fishing rod. Enjoy.

nice one.

not a `pendulum rod` then..?..lucky you said cause i was about to forget the whole thing and give up..:)
It`s quite happy with a slow pend or half pend, but not an out and out tourny/casting rod. i`m sure someone will dispute this but probally one of ZZiplex`s finest rods if your into fishing not casting.

Dave.

I'm going to agree and disagree with Excel on this one :). I'd say the rod is perfectly happy with a pendulum cast, and will take a good thrashing on grass. However, it's certainly not a tourney rod even though it is capable of chucking a lead a long way (a bit too soft in the butt). It's about as good a fishing rod as you'll get for most situations, although I wouldn't use one for dragging stuff through kelp.

Go to say, from the pics it looks in pretty good nick for a rod of its age, and not a bad price too, I'd certainly have gone a bit more than that for one in good nick!

you seem to miss the point mate, the 2500 was made for pendulum casting they like a smooth progressive build up to make them work without the tip loosing power then causing a crackoff,i used to have a pair of these rods myself so i do know them pretty well! but even if i said yea yea yea buy it you would probably dissagree coz you have a problem with someone youve never even met.

(sad really)
Had one sold it regreted it ever since brilliant rod,no doubt somebody will dispute my comments, personaly i think you got a bargan.
It was a brilliant rod; so was the Longbow, 484, Flick Tip .....
materials and design move on.

Ada

so does the price of things..its either a good second hand rod or a new one for the same money..:g: ...if it was a brilliant rod years ago?then thats good enough for me..
it`s a brilliant rod now as well as years ago,and they will cast most styles.
you dont HAVE to pendulum with it, it`s just as happy otg,oht etc etc.
a good buy
dinoboy dont like it cause it aint a century.
