Just ordered a pair of Zziplex HST for rough ground fishing, I currently use Abu 6500 reels, will these be man enough for 18lb line for rough ground, any comments welcome

Think you will need something a bit more robust for the rough stuff, Penn 525s would be more suited & hold more 18lb line, if thats what you intend using. If you need to use something like 30lb straight through for the really rough ground, you might need something with more capacity like the 535.(not sure if its still made)

cracking rods i would'nt use 6500s on the ruff unless you want to strip the gears ,

saltists
penn mags
penn fathoms
sl20sh
toriums

all these have more torque and the guts to cope with any ground

Some sound contradictory advice there!

Me, I LOVE my HST, and find the height [I'm only wee mind!] that you can get the tip helps clear the close in kelp etc on the retrieve.

As for strength of the blank?????:marinheir
