Hi Guys , does anybody own one yet or had a play with one yet and if so how does it compare to the Powertex and Light models ,please,Thanks .

completely different
the ct is quite stiff in tip will do 4 n bait with a proper cast
the gt glass tip version is more a 3oz rod but with lovely tip
tried both but found too short at 11 8 shame they arent a foot longer
also a bit pricey 260 and 270 respectively for basically a bass rod blank
built your looking at 350-360 i believe

11ft 8" what a waste if it was 12ft8 it be perfect an worth a punt way too short for most

Completely agree if only it was 12.5ft or so it will SELL ! what a waste bet its very slim and steely and would be a lovely rod to smack light leads with !

I don't really get why people are so confused its obvious what it would be perfect for ..... those that fish in the surf and need to hold it the whole session because they are up to their thighs in the water. Distance isn't everything and a lot of people still like the better balance of a shorter rod with reel up that doesn't constantly feel tip heavy, plus the traditional 3oz Bass rods everybody pumps out are a bit limited with big baits and rougher weather.
That apart there are plenty of people that want a light surf rod but don't want something the length of a water main ....

dont get me wrong they are very nice just not to my taste
the ct in my opinion would make a perfect light rod if you wade
i dont not my cup of tea i prefer to cast

How many people do you know now days that stand in the surf holding a rod with bait out? The rod was a waste if it was 12.5ft+ it be bought by alot more people

If there is one thing you learn in the trade and that is just because you personally like or dislike a particular product it doesn't mean that the rest of the world agrees with you. Given that they generally can't make blanks fast enough I would have thought that the most obvious reason for Zziplex to make a shorter version is because people have been asking for one.

Quite surprised by the answers of it being too short ,it's a Bass rod not a casting or match rod ,I have a Daiwa High Performance Bass ,which is a great rod and that is 11,6 .
My. Zziplex Powertex Bass is a great light beach rod but not the best for holding all day as some of us still do this style of close nerve jangling style of fishing , I agree it's a lot for a Bass rod but it will last a lifetime knowing the quality of these rods, think I will stick with my HPSB for the time being but many thanks for the replies guys.

Have got the gt and thinks its perfect fir light leads i want to fish closer in but still casts 4 0z reasonably far enough but not meant for that. If you want length buy a profile lite or lure

This is reply from a mate after i asked about the new Bass Rods;
Uk hooks has the glass tipped version in , nice little rod for bassing and holding in the surf very light/slim but very specialised up to 4 ounce , but if bassing with baits or larger plugs is your thing I expect they will sell to the few to the keen bass anglers.
Chris Dance said that the CT version is horrible feels like a beefy carp rod!!.

about 20mm butt mate
the ct is odd as tip is stiff
the gt is in my opinion too soft in tip for such a short rod, by the time the tip folds in on the cast you have even less to cast with
ideal plopping rod tho in gutter
dosent do anything any other bass rod wont do, and not too disimilar to original 11ft flattie fanatic

Hi All,
Being in a slightly different market place, but still very focussed on rods, lengths and their power rating and action. Let me tell you it is the most difficult thing in the world to keep a range of customers happy.
Short story: A couple of years ago we got time to develop a light surf rod, aimed at smaller edible species we catch here, but for use on days when the sea was calm. Opted for a 12’ 2 piece blank, with a very crisp action, that when tested was awesome with 3 oz and smaller baits, and cast absolutely miles – well not quite miles, say 120 metres +.
Since we started offering the rod on our list of products we have had just about every inquiry you can think possible, 10’, 11’, 14’, 4oz, 5oz, 6oz and a whole lot more. Then we actually talk to these clients looking at a non-standard variant, and they are looking for something that really is just to suit their slightly different style of fishing. So, obviously the variations on what the actual clients want is endless, and no rod builder can possibly hope to satisfy them all.
The flip-side to the story is that folks that have bought the rod, have found that even though it is only rated to 3oz, and aimed at smaller species; they are using it as a full surf rod, and landing some seriously big fish on it, which is well beyond their expectations.
When we were looking at the original design, we had a specific brief in mind, basically closer casting for smaller species, that would be normally cast over with longer ‘full’ surf rods.
You can’t please everyone, no matter how hard you try – is what we have learned from that experience, but the rod keeps on selling!!!!!
