As far as I'm aware it's only sting rays you nave to be wary of for obvious reasons, although some ray species have spines on the tails and bodies. Can hurt/cut you if not careful....best way to pick up a ray is by the cheeks...... put your thumbs either side of the mouth and grip front with fingers

Just avoid putting fingers in mouth if you want to keep them :laugh:

 

Also when holding, watch for the spines on the sides - been had by many of them in my time -

As for holding rays, take a look at the ray pictures on this thread:

and note how they are holding the rays, might be a bit daunting the first time but its easy once you know how.
