I've got the week off and the misses is working, which can only mean one thing! :happydance:
With excitement I ventured down to Lepe for the first time on Monday. I got there bright and early and dug a few king rag. I fished round to the left past the D Day things in the water. It was a great day to be out and i thoroughly enjoyed fishing a new Mark. I had one bite all day on my worm rod, but in accordance with Sod's Law missed it! I will try it again in the dark next time- I know it produces good ray but what else turns up there, anyone ever caught any cod?

Today I tried Gilkicker next to the groynes on the left. I set up for an hour before high and fished a live bait rig on one rod and squid and black cocktails on the other. It was rather slow going with the odd pin whiting and pout, some doggies and possibly the smallest bass I've ever seen! I was planning on fishing for longer but nearly lost the will to live, so packed up at around 9.

I think I need a chill out day tomorrow, and a rethink! Really want to catch something interesting this week without driving all the way down to chesil!

If anyone's got any tips for where to try this week (nothing much being put on here besides chesil reports lol) then please give me a pm!

Fingers crossed the rest of the week improves! Will update on the weekend!

Thought I'd bite the bullet and drive to abbotsbury last night.

Got there for 2100 and fished through to 0530. It was a lovely evening, but as others have said was teeming with dogfish.

I did connect with something big, and for 5 minutes I was convinced it was one of these mythical lumps until I saw it in the breakers!

Bastarding thing! Nice fish though, She went just over 20 Lbs.

Cod wise, it just wasn't meant to be :mad2:

Packing the rods up now until after Christmas, and looking forward to chilling out for the rest of the week!

20lb of Conger is still far better than only a bag full of dogs! nice one.
