posted in sw forum but thought is try here too staying in appledore next week, found plenty of info on lure fishing westward ho rocks, the gut at greysands(dodgy? Or only if you cross it?) but not much info lure fishing around appledore itself, does anyone lure fish from lifeboat slip? Or further round towards quay?( there looks to be a small access slip opposite our cottage on isher street, or the quayside itself, and if so when tidewise would you fish it? have trips further afield planned but mostly will only have an hour here or there, happy with schoolies and not looking to take fish! So very different to my part of the world!

A mate of mine had a 12lb bass from the lifeboat slip, but that was on bait.

I'd say it's definitely worth a crack. From the life boat slip back around towards the main carpark you have an area of rockpools and weeds, which might attract some fish on the flood. As you get closer to that car park, you have proper sinky river mud, so I wouldn't advise trying to reach the main channel across that. Probably from mid tide up and back again you may as well have a bash along that stretch.

In the main car park, the wall that runs outside of the boat slip will give you good access to the main channel. Could be worth trotting a soft plastic along with the outgoing tide there. The fish travel right up past Bideford, so you're in with a shout.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply, was thinking letting a small finish minnow or sg eel go with the flow might do the trick, much appreciated
