Hi everyone
I've not been out for a while due to illness but as I am on the mend now I am itching to wet my line again.
I was wondering if anybody on here has tried any artificial baits from the beaches around this way and if any are worth getting?
I have seen Gulp but I have been told that these are only good from boats, so I was wondering if that's true and are there any out there that work from the shores in West Sussex area?

Thanks for looking and tight lines
Karl.

hi karl I don't know about gulp baits, and I havnt used them, but I would feel that without some form of fresh bait im thinking youd be wasting ure time m8.
I havnt been out for two years because of serious illness, but with place starting to show from the beaches I will have a go for them.
frozen black or wrapped black with a sliver of squid should see me fishing with a bit of confidence, yur local tackle shop should have these.
so give it a go m8 if u cant dig buy.i used to dig my bait all the time but only used to take twenty worms for a three hour sesh, icant do that at the mo.
hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I always took out fresh bait with me from my local shop (rag worms mostly as the guy I fish with wont use much else) but I am always looking to try new things and just wondered if it was something to keep in the box for those moments when you get permission from the other half at last minute.

But I am here to learn so replys like yours are always great to get.
Many thanks
Karl

I spoke to someone on the Banjo the other day who swore by using WD40 to "recharge" his worms (and on bait too!) apparently its made from fish oil... And stops ya hooks from squeaking!
Certainly cheaper than Isome fluid.

According to long debate (no pun intended!) on the bait forum, WD40 is NOT made from fish oil, but is a synthetic lubricant.
Fresh bait every time for me, or frozen at worst. I think some of the artificial worms tipped off on a moving bait/lure might give some success, but even then a fresh worm as a tip (ie maddies) would work even better imo...

Its also good for stopping silver fish rusting! ;)

Thanks for all the replys, I have heard about the WD40 before but never really imagined it would work.
Think I will stick to fresh bait and try and talk the other half into letting load up her freezer with frozen bait :-D
I have thought about lure fishing and would love to give it ago but last time I done that was about 17 years ago and on fresh water so wouldn't know where to start with salt lures from the shore.

Many thanks guys
Karl
