so whats with brighton pier then. is it true you cant fish off here anymore? seems strange when you see people walking on the pier with fishing gear. maybe their staff who have a special privilage or pally with the management correct me if im wrong but can you fish it? or do you need to know someone in the top spot.

many thanks

Long time since Palace Pier was open to anglers. It used to have a landing stage you could fish from if I recall correctly. Remember it fishing it's socks off years ago for bass, mackys, flounders and whiting. Interesting that you've seen anglers coming off the pier with their gear - I know there is a club called something like the Palace Pier Angling Club - maybe they store gear there but don't fish it. Or maybe they do fish it, in which case it would be interesting to find out about joining the club. Either way it would only be at night I'm pretty certain.

Oh happy days, yes there was fishing platform at the end of Palace Pier but in those days the pier closed in the evening. Rod rattling pouting were on the feed all day and nobody ever blanked. The bass were a lot harder to target and were in smaller numbers than you get now.
I do not know of anybody fishing the pier nowadays unless there has been a change of policy by the owners. It would certainly be interesting to fish it again after so many years.
