Are there ever any casting meets - especially up here in the North/Inverness area?
I know that a few months ago some of you guys organised something in I think Montrose area if memory serves me well - any plans to repeat that?
Otherwise any casting instructors in Scotland that would be prepared to travel or I could travel too and how much would that cost?
Basically any info welcome.
Thanks guys. Leo.

Dont think there are any instructor that far north, there was a few meets arranged in the past in the Aberdeen area, maybe something we could look into if enough interest is there again.
We dont have our own field yet to cast on but an meet up on a beach can help improve most to cast.
Dont believe any caster up here charges for his services but maybe help cover costs if he travels to meet up.
Hope this helps.

Would deffo be up for another one if there is enough interest out there?
Thanks Leo.

I know everyone just likes to want to know how to cast.
But if you live in Aberdeen or Montrose there's really no need for it.
Most fish are well within the mere mortals reach.
If you intend to travel to say SW Scotland then I see your need.
Just curious, what's your reasoning.
Iam not the worlds best caster by no means and would probably benefit from a lead chucking sesh.
My rods certainly out power my casting abilities but need their power for kelp fishing.
I've started to branch out a little as far as traveling is concerned.so probably be a good idea to learn a little bit more.
I buggered my shoulder last winter miss timing a cast. Apparently powering up too quickly with big leads n baits.
Oh we'll sore lesson learned there. Still feel it now from time to time. Lol still probably doing it wrong.??
A wee question thou jimmy.
If say learning then basic casting style, do we require a decent casting reel????
I mean its Saltists I have.
So wouldn't imagine they would hit as far as say a 6500 or 7ht turbo.
Think iam answering my own question here but assume it would be the style or tecnique. That matters.

Answering some of the questions, casting distance may not always be necessary but if you do try a new venue and the guy next to you is finishing at day 140yds and catching but you can barely reach 60yds do you just give up and go home.
If helping to improve your cast it is with the kit you have, yes if given good lessons you may want different kit but learning to get the best out of what you have is what it is about.

If you can fish at 140 yards you also have the option of fishing at 60 yards.
If you can only fish at 60 yards you have no options.
Agree that the fish are at your feet sometimes - but more strings to the bow.
Yes but caster tend to want to belt her to the horizon. Especially if someone's watching. Lol
Rid sort of like having a Ferrari and driving at sixty

I would like to give it large with a multiplier and not end up with a spool that looked more like a bad hair day
Like this from yesterday?

Doesn't matter how good you are, nighttime in the wet, not concentrating enough?

And yes once you learn to cast you need to remember to cast where the fish are, if only 30yds out dont blast 160..Joe???

O.K Great so looks like we have some interest - maybe a wee meet in the Aberdeen area?

Anyone know that patch and who would be prepared to take the organising on?

I am UNAVAILABLE 7th - 14th October, and work weekends but am more than willing to blag a weekend off if given enough notice - say at least a fortnights warning.

I will be coming from Aviemore and am prepared to pick someone up on the way if possible.

Many Thanks Leo.
