I see threads on here get sabbotaged by argumentative idiots and useful info mocked and discredited by egites who find it funny, and I for one am fed up because it seems that the ar£e h@les get away with it! I would like to see a proactive stance from the mods by warning those responsible to behave or jog on!!!:banghead:

I have to say there is absolutely nothing in your post I would disagree with.....!!
Ditto - IMHO its the same when someone posts a thread asking about ABC for example, after couple of answers the 'normal crowd' (you know who you are) jump in recommending X, Y & Z, which can only add to the confusion for the initial poster and the thread goes to pot :clap3::clap3::clap3:

While I like to have bit of a laugh, I do try and give good advice whenever I can.

It does seem though that some guys are only on here to take the p1$$ or start a row.

I sometimes bite back when I am provoked, but I do try and ignore some of the idiots.

i think the mods do a pretty good job considering the amount of boards and members not too mention some of the topics discussed and they do it for free
I dont doubt that for one second and can understand the odd occasion where foot goes in mouth before thinking, or the odd pi££ taker with the 'hics' puts two pence in and goes un noticed, but I cant believe the forum police dont notice that its the same members who repeatedly ar£e around on here???????

i guess it depends on which board and the members involved,i know the s/e has had a few probs of late but it's also one of the funniest boards to read imo, plenty of leg pulling etc which might be taken the wrong way by some members ,but then you have to take into account this forum will cover the entire country so what i may find funny down south might not be taken so lightly further north...no offence meant

dirtylittlerockling does have a point here guys, but you also have to accept the fact that if you pose a question in thread form ,you will get a multitude of advice, some good, some bad, some funny some not,it is up to the reader to sort the wheat from the chaf, but thats what makes the world turn fellah! my advise would be to pose your question, watch for the replies,if you see somebody you think is being sensible-pm them,i am sure they wo'nt mind.
i think the real trouble is posed when the novice angler posts what to some expierienced guys, seems a stupid question, having said that we were all in that boat sometime, and i expect we all took some flack as well for asking advise in the same vein. i will admit to taking a new penn multiplier ,given as a 15th birthday pressie ,back to the shop and telling the guy 'the handle turns the wrong way,you can imagine my horror when the guy turned the reel the right way up!! got to make your mistakes sometime, better to do it early in your angling career than later eh!! and what better place to do it than on this forum!!

Easy way to stop most of the real nasty stuff would be to ban threads on Article 47, the bulk of the threads on that subject have been disgraceful quite frankly ...... you can have an opposing opinion alright, but you'll probably get kneecapped for having it ..... strange really I didn't think politics was allowed on the general forums which is why the conservation and politics forum exists?

Someone said to me the other day that he came on here for a browse and thought he'd gone to the wrong forum .... on account that there seemed to him to be an awful lot of commercial fishermen commenting ..........

Ok...

I have recently been accused of posting in a negative manner and must admit I find it hard to refrain from doing so at times.
The forum does contain a wealth of information, some of great use and some of utter rubbish and it should be up to the user to utilise what is available.
What really gets my goat is classics like- "How is Chisel fishing?",
where the poster has made no effort whatsoever to find the spelling of the word let alone noticed that two threads below is "Abbotsbury report".
But there will still be replies to the question, some will be sensible and some will be ridiculous, not just someones opinion but factually incorrect.
This is just one example of many that involves no effort by the question asker who cant even be bothered to spell the key words, let alone string the whole thing together in a readable sensible fashion.

I have heard the term 'flaming' too. I would say this acts as flaming to some of us.
I am also familiar with fools gladly...

Without wishing to be mean, please also remember that some people find spelling difficult, and some have learning difficulties. Also, I presume you are referring to "Chesil", although I may be wrong, and if it is, I didn't know it was at Abbotsbury - I hear a place name when I am taken there, and that's what it's called. I don't know the surrounding area, just the road that gets me there.

I do understand what you're saying about flaming and posts that provoke, but please remember that not everybody posts out of malicious intent or apathy. Some people actually don't know.

What severely annoys me is when the thread-starter or other calming people draw a thread back on track, and people completely ignore all attempt to be civil. Grr, I say! Start a :hammer: thread and link it in!

:)

'Chisel' - exactly my point, Y!

Why not jog down the newsagents and buy a magazine?
Nice and clear to read, no misspellings, no egites (?) poorly disguising their vile language on an open, child-friendly forum, no need to wade through the whole range of passionately-held opinions in the real world, and no need to face up to anything more negative than "terrible for cod this year, innit."

And all for the price of a quarter of lug but far less messy.

As suggested by MOTM, some people do start threads that will only go one way for no reason. I'm another person that gets wound up by the continual amount of constant repeat questions, the most popular seem to be about whites, blacks and blueys. OK, allowing a question to be posted once and once alone is out of the question and would be over-moderating to say the least, but when there are several open threads on one page it's taking the pee a touch; use the search facility, that's what it's there for.

Spelling; don't get me started on this one. OK, I'm a little anal with spelling and punctuation, and I understand that not everybody is either as bothered, or as literate, but use Firefox and you get a lovely little spell checker with it (currently telling me Firefox is not recognised!). It's not hard to scan through and show a little effort and you're far more likely to get help if you do.

Having made both these points, I generally just skip these threads as I can't be bothered to say anything (and it does hurt to ignore some of the woeful spelling and grammar on here - see, told you I was anal). There have been a few threads recently I've commented on and upset people. If people are posting things on a public forum that could be controversial then they have to expect answers they like, and answers they don't like. Getting in a huff and ranting when they get something they don't like is, frankly, childish.

could'nt your reply be seen as childish?,after all you're ranting about something you don't like!

i assume you have had a thread sabotaged, and your useful info ridiculed?

if you have a problem with a post send a PM to the moderator of the section.

otherwise get over it!!

what pray tell in your opionion is behaving, do we suddenly have to conform to the way you want us to be, do you consider yourself a facist? your post is poorly phrased, i would rather see 50 threads with interesting debate and comment, than 1 from you telling me "behave or jog on"

if its within site rules its fine, deal with it.

The A47 threads are not politics, they are about the future of sea angling. The C&P forum is restricted to a self selecting set of members, and for this reason an important topic like A47 must not be sidelined there.

I agree that there have been some distasteful comments posted on the general forums regarding A47, but that is what the mods should be controlling, and is not a reason for any discussion on the future of our sport to be moved to a forum used by a (self) limited number of members.

it would seem it's going to become one of the very threads that dlr is speaking out about.....ironic
Thank you JTK. No offy it doesnt bother me for my sake as i just leave the thread when it goes like this as it is not in my nature but i felt it about time there was something said....

I reckon all threads on stuck or tight spigots should be barred from every forum :victory:

It`s a public forum, opinions will always vary, as somebody else has said, live with it :)

In actual fact, reading your initial post again ( I may have taken it out of context ? ) have you not just done the exact same ???

i.e. if posts do not adhere strictly to the original intent of that post then they must be banned or editied or mods` step in ? Is that not just you suggesting that all such posts be in imminent danger of being hijacked by mods, even before they are posted????? ( I know what I mean, b#####s just ban stuck spigot threads )
