Hi All,
I’m new to this site so I may make mistakes ( age related ),
I am after any info on dog fishing mainly along the east coast, I have caught them years ago in Wales and fancy another crack at them.
It is shore marks I’m interested in, prefer maybe a harbour wall, somewhere safe.

You can catch at Gorleston pier when they are about. Had 5 last year in half an hour just using squid.
Easy parking and railings to fish over.
Give it another month and you may struggle to avoid them on most beach's around this way.

Thanks for the info Gary, a bit far for me to travel, but if I’m ever that way I’ll be taking my gear

The trick to catching dogfish is to use expensive bait whilst targeting something you actually want.

They take pretty much anything but seem partial to squid/fish baits. Bring a disgorger as they have tough lips and can be a bugger to unhook. Enjoy some close contact as they rasp the skin off your hands and say hi over and over as they get repeatedly washed back up on the beach instead of swimming away.

Mine seem to enjoy a good flap about, long after several decent bonks on the head. It's rather disconcerting and makes me think I've not made a good job of it, plus draws attention to the whole thing when in a public spot.

I've taken to finding some place that they can do their yoga away from view. Especially as I try to dispatch fish discreetly in the first place, without an audience.
