I've caught flounder the on all sorts from small stick baits to curly tail grubs, 1 inch shads, isome in various forms, even mepps inched across the bottom. The secret is to find some fish! If there are flounder present they will grab a lure but there just aren't many flounder! Check the results of the flounder league comps, they are dire!. I fish spots which I know contain numbers of fish. My only tweak is that every artificial I use for flounder is used in conjunction with scent, I've watched flounder nose a bait and turn away but since using added scent once they get close instinct seems to take over and you're in!!! I use procure gel and it's made a massive difference to my catch rate. P.s....... If I had to choose just one it would be a white 2 inch curly tail grub and procure squid gel.

Bass is easy... anywhere with structure or an obstruction from the tide! I used to spend 8 hrs a day in a company car in me1,2 and 3 postcodes and often sneaked a few company hours fishing anywhere with access from Gillingham pier up to medway bridge marina, St Marys island is apparently no fishing but with a roving approach and minimal gear I've yet to be challenged and with good numbers of bass and mullet I've always considered it worth a cast or few. Hoo marina and Upnor yacht club have yielded some lovely bass and mullet to different techniques. You really are spoilt with the medway on your doorstep mate.

Yeah that's true I was using a sabiki rig with small hooks with small strips of mackerel, bluey and squid on a light spinning rod combo with 10lb line in search of mini species and caught a few whiting which they surprisingly played well!

A good spot I used to fish on the Medway was the first corner of the Rochester Riverside Development, if you stand on the corner of the sea wall and look right you will see the remains of a wooden jetty. Its quite deep there with very little tide so ideal for ultra light, it produced plenty of whiting, pout and eels for me and I have seen others catch flounder and small codling. Haven't fished it for a while due to the building works but I believe they are finished now and access has been restored.
