Korum precission 11ft compact float rod snaps whilst threading line through on third outing.
See pics below.
Contacted Korum and heres their reply.

"Hi dale, You can order a new tip section from your local tackle shop £39.99 code knrod/15b

Regards

steve"

Opinions please and am i justified in feeling a little let down?

Hi, have you E mailed the photos.? Remind them of their obligations under the sales of goods act ie. fit for purpose. Hopefully they will replace the section free of charge. Best of luck! regards Edgar
Would have if i could but the only way i can find to contact them is through their web pages which doesnt allow you to add pics. Strangely enough it provides a telephone number for just about every other country but the uk?

Forget Korum take it back to the retailer and let them sort it out. From the pics, and I'm looking on my mobile so can't tell for sure, it looks like it's been crushed at some point which caused a weakness. The whipping stopped it travelling down so the damage went up the blank. Proving how it got that way is another matter, could have happened in the factory, in transit or in use, only you know if you took good care of it while you had it so gather as much evidence as possible and take it back to the retailer and make use of your consumer rights. Good luck. :)

Hmm I purchased 4 unbreakable/lifetime guarantee travel boat rods to take to Norway a couple of years back.
Yes you guessed it They ALL broke on our first sesh. Whoever deemed them as unbreakable etc wants a reality check.
Anyways all the bits were returned to the tackle dealer Who gave me a FULL refund. And i now believe these rods have
been withdrawn from sale As I was not the only one to have discovered that the product was not fit for purpose.

I guess from your comment you must think im a right numpty!
Pulling line off reel once passed through the tip it snapped. Simple, I'm not but cheers for your input.

hi mate, i was surprised by the way you described it breaking, however, it seems more likely it could happen as you describe, wish you every success in getting a refund.
It may be of help if the tackle dealer you bought it from gives you their contact details for the Korda rep they bought the rod from ???

Here lays part of the problem in that i cant be sure where i bought it from so dont wish to put some random retailer in any kind of compramising position. I also know that if i were to take it back to the retailer then the rep would listen to them due to not wanting to loose their custom. Clear case of ignoring the under dog and hoping theyll go away.
I can be certain it has not taken any kind of damage at any point by me or prior to purchase because i have fished with it twice since i bought it and before it broke and landed several stocky carp to 3-4 lb which would have put more pressure on the rod than i did. If it had sustained a crushing type knock it would have buckled and broken and not snapped.
The pics perhapse are too good as it is a snap but can see where it may appear like you say rob by the two lines which look like they travel down the blank. The walls have not collapsed and can assure it is a snap. It looks like there are only one or two fibres holding the carbon together which is why it happened.
I use tubes for all my corse rods to ensure they are protected so it has not been damaged and the rod is in mint condition without a scratch on it.
It is my view that if thats how korum chose to behave then im quite happy to learn the lesson for £50 which is what the rod cost and put my business elsewhere.
I didnt post this in anger at loosing money, It was out of anger at the response i recieved when i informed korum of the fault. I honestly thought they would have cared and would have wanted to look at the problem.
I have two neoteric twin tip barbel rods by them and use their terminal tackle and cant fault in any way but will i continue to use their gear after this? No. Will i recommend them or their gear after this? No. Rant over!!!

Just want to clear up that crush damage doesn't necessarily mean it was physically crushed, but that pressure was placed on that part of the blank causing a weakness. Seems an odd place to snap right by the guide. Once you disturb the fibres fatigue will eventually make the damage spread, hence it wasn't a clean break.

Considering you have no proof of purchase I would think that the reply you received would have been pretty standard to anyone who approached them in similar circumstances so you can't really blame them for the vague response, even if it is annoying having paid out on something that clearly isn't what you expected, and under consumer laws you would be expected to return it to the point of purchase anyway, not contact the company direct.

Pop into a tackle shop or go and talk to a rod builder, get some advice on what exactly caused the blank to fail, get it in writing and then go back to Korum and see what you get. You might end up back where you started but at least you tried. :)

I think Korum on this occassion might see fit to replace your broken section if a politely worded mail drops on their mat,as you have stated you are a Korum tackle user explain when and where you think you purchased it .....but ....without a tackle shop receipt/guarantee they may well charge you accordingly....the statutory rights brief is a minefield so dont go throwing legal jargon at suppliers as its the best way to ****h em off quicktime.

If you want to bore yourself to tears read through this and if you feel your purchase falls into a catagory that requires assistance you may be quids in.

I recently had 2 Neoterics for barbel fishing and both reel seats broke when I applied pressure to retain the reels, not best pleased I returned both and swapped them for Fox Duo light twin tips and have not experienced any tackle failure issues.
That said,I really like Korum Luggage and terminal tackle.

Good luck

It is quiet common to break a rod this way as they do not like tight bends back to the reel. I have done it myself !

It is just asking too much of a lightweight tube making it double back on itself !

Always pull the line off at the reel with light rods !

Sorry mate but pulled the line out and away from the tip. I know what you mean though as i do sometimes pull line out the way you mention.

Thanks for all the replys but in my eyes the damage is done. Its all so easy to purchase goods without thinking of after sales support and we normally think of cost over anything else. Lesson learnt!!!!!!
