Today, I've bought my 3rd fishing rod, a Berkley Pure Spin 601 (10-40g) from ebay.de
I couldn't have imagined how addictive this lure fishing has become!

With this new rod, I want to go light weight on the reel, was thinking a 1000size, with smaller diameter braid/fluro combo.

What would you good folks recommend for smaller end bass fishing?

Generally a 1000 size reel is for LRF, so think of casting lures of 4-8g in weight or whereabouts. For the casting weight of your rod, I'd aim for a 2500 minimum, more likely a 4000 size, with braid somewhere in the range of 15 to 20lb.

To give you a real world example, on my Major Craft N-One 10-30g rod I have a Shimano Sustain FG 2500 reel with 15lb Sunline braid; on my HTO Shore Game 7-35g I have a Shimano Exsence 4000 reel with 20lb J-Braid. Both of my set-ups have lighter max casting weights than your rod, and both have bigger reels than you're suggesting. There's a reason that everyone else posting on this thread have recommended similar.... just saying...
