After a wee bit of mackie bait bashing for the sesh we were motoring to the mark, ( we were going for Ling today) and seen the water boiling gulls everywhere which was a bit strange, thought shoal of small herring/sand eels stopped and fired feathers out, mini joeys there were thousands huge shoal, and underneath huge mackies feeding on them average size 1.5lb and a few 2lb+, this one 2lb 4oz, 1st time ever we have seen this, kept a few mini mackies deadly for the Pollock, changed mark and had a great day on them nowt huge but a fair few touching 5lb, free lining the joeys in the current great sport!!! ( Loch Leven )
Back to same mark today, it is still the same, got there about midday, the whole bay is alive with mini mackies, we counted 18 herons on the shore all lined up about 5 mtrs apart herring gulls everywhere, and the dreaded seals, we were after the big fish and bagged up got my bait for the winter and some, trying to get through the shoal and down for the bigger was a nightmare spent more time shaking off tiny ones than catching our target fish, they were even hitting the sib dunting off the side escaping the bigger predators, in all the years never seen anything like it!!
