could any one tell me any good marks on the east coast of anglesey:boat:

I'm sure we can help :sun: Just a little more info required.

What would you like to catch ? Is your mobility good ? Have you got much experience ?

The fishing can be very good on the east coast but a lot of it involves a walk or/and it is mainly rock marks. Some places are better in summer and others better in winter. Are you going to be based somewhere there in particular ?

As mentioned, drop us a few more details mate.

Fishing4U is Angelsey based and has some marks, with aspects of mobility friendly marks. http://www.fishing4u.co.uk/phpbb/index.php

Do you mean Red Warf bay side mate ? Moelfre, Amlwch, Benllech, Bull Bay to Penmon head ? I have been to many marks on that side and have a few notes. Will be trouping around fishing from the 289th March for a couple of weeks. We are having a camping meet at Benllech in April for a few days as well !

Penmon Heads lighthouse has a bell ! Don't try and catch 40 winks between tides ! LMAO

Its a bit of a struggle at the moment but some good places to try soon would be the rocks at bull bay for wrasse, white beach for all sorts, same for Penmon quarry, the rocks around Moelfre usually produce at least Dogfish, Whiting and Dabs. A bit of a walk but a nice place to fish at low water is a mark called Caim. Most of these rock marks can show Mackerel as well as everything else come summer.

If you get near ABC tackle shop at Gallows point near Beaumaris, he sells a book, containing directions to lots of marks on Anglesey, its by L&m rigs, but if you want directions quickly, just pick a place and ask on here and you will always get a reply.

Good luck to you, let us know if you get out, how you got on.

Yep

From Beaumaris carry straight on through the town towards the east coast. don’t take any turn offs just keep going you will see the water on your right, then you will lose sight of the water and go through a built up area as you have gone through the built up area you will start to climb a hill the road is a little narrow in places so drive careful, when you get to the top of the hill it is actually a but sometimes can be mistaken take a left turn, then first right about 100meters down the road and follow the road as the road bends to the right you will see that straight on is a dead end "T sign" take the dead end and drive slowly till you see a pumping station on left park here. Now walk up the lane and through the kissing gate into the field, head leftwards down the field, you will see where others have walked. If in doubt when you go through the gate head towards 10 o clock. Try and pick up where the path leads down, as it is all steep cliff type areas around here. When you get down the right area you will get down the rocks and come onto a group of rocks that are comfortable to stand and fish from "please be aware the rocks can be slippy if they are wet" they are flat and jut out seawards, to the left is a sheer face that gives shelter from a side wind.

I have copied these directions to save time from another excellent fishing site fishing4u.co.uk but they are spot on.

There are very few snags, if you fish straight out here and its a really scenic spot. As I mentioned the bad point is the walk back to the car ........ its all up hill. Seems a lot worse if you have not caught well but not so bad if you have a good mixed bag. It will get better towards summer though.

Hope this helps

At the mo, it will be mainly Dogfish on large'ish Mackerel or squid baits, Dabs on worm, also still the odd Whiting on worm or Sandeel. At night you might pick up small Conger on fish baits.

As you get towards summer you can get the above plus I have had Tub and Grey Gurnard, the very odd Ray and small Bull Huss. Also Mackerel on feathers sometimes in the evenings, I'm told Bass can be caught here .. not by me though

Its not an exceptional mark but once on the rock platform (low water) its dead comfortable and the sport can be hectic, worth a trip when its not too windy but remember to time it to fish 2 hours either side of low water. You can still fish from the top of the rocks over high water but its not as comfortable.

If you're about early as you cross the Brittania Bridge (A55) then take the first slip road as you cross into Anglesey and drive the mile or so into LlanfairPG. In the centre of the village is a huge car park and a shopping warehouse BUT also an Information centre (on left as you enter main door) there ask for the map ' Sea Fishing in Anglesey'. Coloured map with photos. of twenty marks with directions, including your East coast. They're not as detailed as John's instructions mind but they'll give you an idea.

When you've fished a mark then return the compliment of having been told where to fish and tell us how you got on (blank or fish!) It's a two way thing on WSF!!

Good luck and if you're about when we have a meet then please join us - i'll be the one fishing without hooks and bait - might as well the fish i'm not catching!!

Another must if you don't know the area that well is the OS map for Anglesey (114), invaluble piece of kit.

Swelly it can and will get better chief, looked a nice day to be out at CB, I've never done well there during the day, Joe says he has but he fishes the other side of the bay.

I was going to go tonight but that Easterly is bitter Brrrrrrrr ..... I chickened out !

I chose to fish the Starboard side so as to get some shelter from the wind! The other side looks easier to get at and weedier. In fact it reminded me of the same 'side' of the bay near Llan Gwyfan Church (just South of the main Ty Croes mark below the Track/Trac). Mind you that was probably the roughest shore (kelpy/rocky) i've ever fished. That was similar weather conditions this time last year - and I blanked!!! The side I did fish today was great for not losing rigs but I suppose the foods in the weed enit!?

But as I am not mobility orientated, I tend to stick to easy safe marks.

Moelfre, I parked at the Visitor centre and walked down 50 yards. Lots of people fish from the rocks just past the Lifeboat station,

Almlych Harbour wall on the far side of this picture is pretty good, a decent report on fishing4u site. Also if you go past the visitor centre and park in the car park above the harbour and walk down the rocks, has some nice marks, apparently ! LOL

Could try the beach down from Llanddona at the far right hand side of Red Wharf Bay. Don't know how good it is (you don't hear much about it), but its a beautiful spot, and you could literally fish from the car at high tide. When I went at Christmas I got some decent sized dabs in the day. Might be worth trying at night on a big tide (early next week!). Bound to be something there. Be aware that the tide comes in very fast in Red Wharf generally, and I remember two local old ladies telling me about quicksands there.

Get a map, get some bait and go and try the few we've given you. When you get the hang of the beaches/rock marks they'll grow on you. There is no easy, sure catch spot. If there was you couldn't get on it for anglers! You'll find out which suit you and which don't. Some of us don't mind losing gear or have worked out EXACTLY where areas are less snaggy or more snaggy and full of natural bait so full of fish! This game's not supposed to be easy. If you're concerned about tackle loss start by fishing piers (e.g. Bangor) or the clean sandy beaches (e.g. around Rhosneigr) If it's the east coast you hanker after then go to White Beach at low water and fish off the reef under the cliff. A distance cast will get you onto sand, the closer in you are the snaggier it gets, plus old lobster pot gear! Fish straight down, carefully, and lift just off bottom and enjoy the Wrasse. If you get down at low water you'll be able to see where the snags are if you decide to fish at high water. However there are snaggier bits there as well at low water - suck it and see!! Go to Penmon point at low water, walk round to the right and you'll see clearish bits (and probably get some peelers) but again don't expect masses of fish at this time of year.

See you around and find out about how to use rotten bottom gear!
