Hi All Myself a long time fisherman not been for a while now, due to Angina, i used to work in phil angling, many years ago.

i have quietly been watching, this forum for many a month due to illness, dismayed at what has been going on about a wellknown fishing venue

Mr splottcatcher a member of cardiff sea angling club, you fished there sunday with csac i know this because, i was passing the heliport and saw csac leaving the foreshore, so i decided to ask security if csac are fishing , the answer no they have just left, ok thanks for that, and left it at that.

but look at this
mr splottcatcher fished that sunday at codscorner with csac

http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204713&highlight=foreshore

Fished there Sunday and today , had 5 bass to 3lb , 3 silvers and a few pins on sunday from Cods Corner, today i had 6 bass all small, and 7 pins from the Boulders, last week there were a few coddling about but they didnt show over the last 2 tides i fished. splottcatcher

He replied to a post saying he was there .!

So it proves that csac are a gentlemans club who want access for there little click, last year i believe that wsf members were trying to sort out permits for everyones benifit

it is real dishearting to see a possible old favorite spot of mine, i remember when it used to a beach travel down in a charavan when i was a kid (used to love fishing birds) being lost due to
cardiff sea angling
splottcatcher
cardiff centryman
scroll through previous posts about foreshore
see the negtive posts about foreshore,

so im sorry for young members new to fishing who could see the foreshore a bygone fishing venue....

thanks

You've a very strong point.

We were slated for having our own little meet - as they said it was only for a select few but there csac is doing exactly the same thing.

TBH, After I sell my items on the classifides I wont be posting here anymore either. It's a shame as i've met alot of nice people, and they have my number to meet if they so wish.

Bottom line is, im sick of these hypocritical assholes, who pushed other good members and anglers away because they weren't invited to our meet (they didnt even ask... and there were spaces left). These people (no names mentioned) go on to fish the out of bound marks and leave **** everywhere (ive found dead congers/whiting and even codling on the foreshore rocks within the last week.

I bet this gets locked, and it's not here to start arguments but for the love of god, the mods need to sort the ********s on this forum out. Think of me what you want.. like me or not I couldn't care less.

My 2 pence.

Good post mate. It's sad to see a good angler such as urself not be able to fish due to illness.

It surpasses me How political fishing has become, surely a club, who represents the foreshore should and could have sorted this out long time ago, Severely misrepresenting trust giving to them, for access to longships road, and securing a long time future, fishing the foreshore,

Thank you,
Old timer

Never to post again , to old to sit and stress anymore
good luck and Thanks

Gents, the access to a venue is something we can do nothing about.

The other element of this thread we can. You complain about the idiots on here, now ask yourself, how often to you report their posts? If you did, then we would know who the real problems are and can deal with them accordingly. By the time we get to a bad thread, everyone is having a go and it's sometimes difficult to trace the problem back, easier to lock the thread and give people chance to cool off. Try reporting things and give us chance to sort things.

CSAC were the only people who put themselves forward to negotiate with ABP (who would only deal with a properly established organisation on access), lots of people want to fish the foreshore but ABP will only allow access to THEIR part of it, if the anglers are covered by suitable insurance, & understand the H&S regulations involved, (which they will have if they join CSAC).
I was sceptical about them getting access after the problems with access to the Queens Dock Breakwater in Swansea, but it appears that they have succeeded in getting it where we failed. Whether it is only for organised CSAC competitions or is available for pleasure angling I dont know, but ABP wont allow ANYBODY to fish THEIR part unless they are a member of CSAC, & are therefore covered by a suitable insurance, a small price to pay for a venue of that calibre I would have thought! I would gladly give twenty quid a year to have the same in Swansea!;)

Well said blueskip you took the words right out of my mouth, the main reason fishing is restricted on the foreshore is down to insurances. The reason cardiff sac are allowed on is because they are insured under the wfsa and they have been allowed access since i can remember (over 20yrs). There is no little click in the club and it is no great secret that they fish there most weekends on the smaller tides and if any of you would like to join them feel free as the numbers in the club have dropped dramatically over the last few years. They usually have 6 or 7 anglers fishing there comps and you can drive onto the dock and park on longships road if you so wish, new members would be greatly appreciated as like most of our clubs in the region numbers of anglers have decreased.
If any of you are interested you can pm myself or splotcatcher and we will quite happily post you a fixture list.

1st... I am indeed a member of CSAA , and did fish last sundays club comp at the foreshore .

2nd... Permits , this has become an extremly protracted issue , which , it seemshas become a casualty of this modern society we live in , the one of Claim/Blame. The Port of Cardiff is allowing CSAA access to the Foreshore under the agreement of a suitable level of insurance cover submitted by the club itself and additional features from the WFSA .

3rd... The numbers attending CSAA comps over the past years has decreased to a handfull of regular anglers , in some weeks there has only been 2 or 3 turning up .

4th... CSAA has borne the brunt of many peoples frustration over the last 12 months or so, and they as a club are being blamed for the "delay" in the permits being issued , but much more alarming is a few who have publicly denounced on this forum by name one man, he is the one person , who has given many hours , attended meetings , sought information and done an enourmous amount of work trying to get the permits on line , and that is Derik Gamlin.

Lastly... CSAA is not a gentlemans culb , last Sunday there must have been 40/50 people fishing the foreshore. This venue still draws many anglers on a weeky basis , and the coming few months will see a rise in these numbers. The major difficulty CSAA faces is one of leverage , there are 5 or 6 members on a good week who fish regularly and this low number fails to register any kind of impact on the port of Cardiff , but , if all you who are passionate about fishing the Foreshore became members of CSAA and you would be most welcome to do so ,resulting in, as a group CSAA would become stronger in terms of numbers and finances, then 40/ 50 members every week would force the hands of the Port .
I fail to see old timers point here ???? do he really believe CSAA wants to see the Foreshore closed to all anglers ??? . The negative posts , as he reads them are a direct response to questions asked .

A very good post IMO. Seems that the answer is simple....joins CSAA
Forget what the membership fee was, 10 or 20 quid, which is what......bait for a good session? If everyone (and there are many) is so keen to fish the foreshore, then just apply for membership.....not rocket science
PS: just to point out, I'm in no way affiliated with CSAA, I have never even fished the foreshore, just cant see what all the hoo-ha and bad feeling is about when the answer is right there in yr face

nor am i a member

csaa have had an agreement to drive through on agreed dates for years and years which means you can park 25 yards from your fishing spot if you feel like fishing the wall.

to compare this to a meet arranged on here which people had to be vetted and agreed on is bizarre.......if your a member of the club you can fish on the comp days no problem.

i for one have the info in the house now and will be joining...

also remember that if your not a member you can still fish down there but you will have to choose your tides as your not allowed up on the banks...you must stick to being on the rubble...and the lovely walk across it!!
