Ok one for the tackle tarts i guess but what is the piece of fishing gear you own that is a pleasure to own and use? The rod or reel (or both) that brings a smile to your face every time you use it?

For me its my Penn 100 Torque and my Islander Boat Rods (i have the 12/20 and the 6/12). The rods are super light and slim, have fuji power oval guides and are just really nicely made. The 12/20 can handle weights up to and a little over a 1lb and the lighter one is happier with leads up to 10oz. The reel is just a bit flash in gold for me buts its pure fishing porn!

So what's yours and why?

Reel has to be my shimano aero techniums 10000mags so smooth pure class . Rod is a tough one but i think it would probably have to be my ZZiplex profile match , you can bass fish with it , estuary fish with it and give it a smack over clean ground and ray fish with it . It really is very versatile and a joy to use and play fish on lets you feel every thing

My Zziplex light bass rods, used with my Shimano 400s reels. I'm known by most people as being a bit of a caster, but I get just as much enjoyment fishing very close in with light gear. I fact another favourite is my porky pig used with a small baitcasting reel, float fishing right at the waters edge.

Mine has to be my Penn International Dynabraid 12-20lb/20-30lb and my Penn International 975LD to pair em up....

Or my Cono-flex demon uptide paired with saltist 40HA.

It may sound a bit daft but my favorite bit of gear is my Greys jacket I got years ago when I was a fluffchucker. I wear it all the time cos it keeps me warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot and allways dry, even in the worst conditions! Though you do need a few layers under it if it gets really cold.

ehh rod wise gotta be my 2 mustads the viking power mtp great rod over clean and mixed ground and then for the heavier stuff the viking extrerme velocity. ive them a few years well since they where released and i cant see myself changing anytime soon, unless something happens to emm but u cant see that !

reel wise its its always gonna be any of my abu 7000s i guess im old school! they have a bit more weight to emm then then 6500 and its just always what ive used ,plus the more line capacity helps over rough marks .
