Hi people,
I'm new to this sea fishing lark, and am looking for a few bits of advice on venues etc.....
I live in Brotton (in between Saltburn and Skinningrove) and have looked at both places lately, but am hoping for a day out tomorrow or wednesday to get started.
At the minute I'd pretty much be happy catching anything, but ideally would like a good day on the mackerel.
Any advice would be appeciated. I had a wander along the jetty earlier but I dont know if peopleare still fishing it or is it no longer safe?
Another close by would be the south gare but I've heard of people losing allsorts!
Thanks in advance,
Gav

Its still early for the Mackerel the way the weather has been I cant see you getting decent catches of them until late June / into July , there will be
flounders to be caught just to the left of Skinny Jetty where the slipway is on a flooding tide using peeler crab , we used to get decent catches on float
off saltburn pier on crab , hering strip , macky belly floating deep , it would be worth giving it a go off skinny jetty on the saltburn side where the wall
came down , on a flooding tide you will cover a lot more ground , when the peelers become really established its always worth having a cast into the kelp beds around the hummersea area for a cod
