Hi all, recently purchased on of these rods and wondered if anyone had any info or experience of them? Not christened it yet. I also had the opportunity to buy a Daiwa HPSB at the same time but passed, having since done some research maybe I should have gone for that (or both!). Cheers :)

A slim bass rod, best part of 20 years old, made with a woven carbon-kevlar weave, 5 foot butt, 7foot4ins tip, plugs into the butt. Casts 1-3, lobs a 4 far enough to fish. The material was ahead of its time, not too costly to use, which is why it disappeared from rod blanks. Todays carbons are good, but I doubt they are bulletproof!!! I can look up the original price if you are interested.

hi PTR, many thanks for that  yeah i'd be curious as to how much it was back in the day. trying to get hold of some graphics for it as it's just got 'Super Bass' and 'optimum casting weight 3oz' left printed on the blank. i've emailed them and they've said ÂŁ15 (not sure if that's just a generic conoflex one or the graphics for this rod). thanks again :)

I bought one of these conoflex superbass rods in the early 90's.
Cant remember the exact price but it was a lot more than ÂŁ15. More like 70 or 80. I still use it and I caught both my double figure bass on it.
I must admit that I prefer my zziplex bass rod that I bought a few years earlier.

I owned one and built quite a few .... the blanks were heading towards the 100 quid mark I think. If memory serves me correctly the last one I built was around the ÂŁ150 to ÂŁ160 mark with labour and fittings. They were a very good rod, built with a dogleg tip that folded on a pendulum but allowed you to make the most of the rest of the rod ... very light, nice to hold and a very good rod indeed. I sold mine because I fancied a change about 8 years ago ... bad mistake as i should have kept it. At ÂŁ15 its a steal ... grab their hands off.

I had three and sold two of them. If I'm honest, they are a better rod than my Zziplex light bass'.

I had a mishap with the third one and broke the tip, but I had a section of a fibreglass roach pole which I slid up inside the blank and araldited it in place. It hasn't affected the action is is still a joy to use. My daughter uses it when I take her fishing and she finds it easy to cast and fish with.
