Old Style Black Paint For Old Reels

Hello. Can anyone recommend a good plain black paint (spray ideally) for older fixed spool reels, French reels from the 50s & 60s for example - the newer sprays I've tried seem to be less neutral - more lively and vibrant looking than is required.

TRY HAMMERITE HEAT RESISTANT DRIES TO A NICE FLAT FINISH A BIT LIKE MITCHELL FIXED SPOOLS GOT MINE FROM B&Q

Do ensure it's Hammerite Smooth though! The crinkle finish is always a giveaway otherwise.

I did a whole motorbike (tank, mudguards, side panels) with Hammerite smooth aerosols, lovely finish but needed a dozen very light coats to get the proper lustre.

Could be that it's what we had a tin of in the shed at the time !:)
I have used it in the past for mitchel 300s that were shabby and it lasts better than most. Also used it on old air rifle barrels that i could not be arsed to blue!:)
