good luck .
Just think of this KEEP the pump at the same depth and have a max of 3 goes then move on to another worm you will end up with more worms if you have a go at more worm casts / DON'T chase the same worm cast.
its a numbers game NO one is that good they get a worm every attempt .
if you are using a wide bore pump then go in the middle and push the pump in about 4".
if you will be using a 28mm slim line pump then over the blow hole about a 20 degree angle but this time only push the pump in about 2" / if you don't get the worm then push the pump back in the hole at the same depth and have another go.
I use a 50/50 solution of water and washing up liquid.
as for washers I make my own out of a watery sanitary silicone .
Hope this helps and explains things. Cheers Brian.
What do you use as a lubricant for your pump Brian?
Edit: Aslo can I ask are you straight over the hole or slightly angled to the cast?
And thanks, as it is mostly blow I am after, got a pump but not used it yet.
