The wife and I drifted along Samphire Hoe for a couple of hours today. We had half a score of blow lug and some feathers and lures. (Doing our own version of The 10 Worm Challenge!). we caught about 30 Mackerel, Several Pollack up to 3lbs, Wrasse, Red Mullet (we've had several this year now) and a very welcome chubby Codling which although keepable, who went back to grow bigger.
All in all a nice day.

Our boat is white, a 640 Quicksilver Pilothouse. We were at the Dover end of Samphire perhaps a quarter of the way along, but didn't go as far along as in front of the cafe. We were lining ourselves up with the Dover end of Samphire then going out to about 70' of water and the wind and tide was taking us back in to shore and along towards Shakespeare cliff. When we got to about 20' of water we went back up tide and out again. We did the drift about 10 times, great fun. We were bouncing the feathers or bait on the bottom directly under the boat and wiggling down between the rocks. Got hooked up three times but twice we managed to motor back up the tide and free the gear so only one set of tackle lost.

It was a bit lumpy on the flood though even the wind was with the tide. Nice fishin though.
