Going to Thurso first week in April. I believe it is pretty slim pickings at this time of the year and was going to have a go at LRF at Scrabster harbour - any tips?

There is quite a lot of kelp to pull your fish through. My experience is thinking I'm hooked into a monster every time to end up with a dogfish to show for it. I have only fished it in the summer.
mate was down the harbour last weekend, not a bite. the round fish dont come inshore until end of may usually. you could try for seatrout off the river mouths or the odd bass off the beaches, but we dont usually bother till later .
If you can time it with tides come east to sarclet harbour. Need to climb a short stone climb when tides out to access the slab but then some good fun on LRF gear with coalies and other rock dwellers.
