2500ra It will be fine, it will probably die of corrosion by the end of the season, but will be a good little reel until then. Regarding the rod, I have no idea!

 

is there a cheaper alternative you could recommend? i do love that lil reel so would hate to see it ruined! i dont wanna be spending too much is i can help it preferably 1 that will last so one made for sea spinning?

Youre getting in to big money mate with out and out saltwater spinning reels. A lot more expensive than a Catana

 

I've been using a Shimano Catana 4000 RA since 2010 and it's still going strong. Only cost about £30 i think, nice reel.

 

theres a few abu garcia salt spinning reels on fleabay for around £30 would they be worth a punt?

 

you can use it for bass fishing,but i would recommend learning how to service the reel.search to see if there any instructions online.i can take my reels down to their individual parts for cleaning,i can clean them as much as i like,and everytime you do it you will become faster.it will make a cheap reel go a long way.i had an okuma epix that lasted six years,eventually a kayak dunking killed it.
