A venue well known for Dover sole, one year when it was rough weather for weeks on end I had 109 sole in five Saturday nights fishing on the inside. During that same time two chaps fished on the outside 3/4 way to the end with thick boat roads and timber batons taped to the end so they could gain enough height to rest their rods up and over the wall to fish, creaky old multipliers that when they cast the tackle it went straight down the side, they caught over 40 sole that night. Others fishing near by with all the right gear had to cast out and reel back in slowly until they could feel the weight starting to lift up, then fish for the sole. That must have been 20 years ago now, doesn't time fly by.

Nice fish mate, most definitely one of the best eating fish in the sea.

Went down to Shoreham this evening, fished from 1600-2030.
Picked up some nice fresh black lug and frozen baby squid from Prime Angling.
First few chucks had some questionable bites, very sporadic.

After an hour or so had a very positive knock which developed into a good bite which I managed to hit.
Pulled in a lovely Dover Sole.
Never caught one before.
Was about a lb and 38cm.

Gee and Lee said it was lovely fish.
I think that's what Lee said anyway...

Brother in law had a small plaice. Returned that one.

I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to prepare the Dover Sole.
First attempt at skinning one was pretty tricky. Scales everywhere!

In the fridge now ready for the BBQ today.
Well Done, was there Thursday Gee said that there were some around, as for cooking them I just clean them , Soak in Salt Water 24 hrs that Cures the Fish then Oil or Butter on Baking Foil , lay the Fish on it with the Rough Skin on the Foil , Butter or Oil on top, Sprinkle of Black Pepper , and a drop of Red or White Wine on top , wrap up like a Parcel in the Foil and put in Baking Tray in the Oven on Gas Mark 150 degrees when it's done , Squeeze Lemon Juice on it and eat out the Skin , Lovely Jubbly :p ! Enjoy ! PS don't cook it too Quick or it will Dry Up.
