Well, im happy this is shaping up! we have decided on a few rules, i think this is the generel idea,

2 rods, a hook limit of 4 hooks

Mackerel, will NOT count towards points

The Teams are umlimited in size (everyone can join in!!)

The points are worked out by wieght per angler. so the team's gross wieght is divided by the amount of anglers.

Details,

These are the basic details for the First Comp Match,

West Bexington, Dorset
28th April

Look at Ian Houlton's thread about the match. or PM him.

Anymore Q or ideas PM me or post them on the South Coast Comp thread.

Cheers,

Jamie

i do not get this?
why is it too dangerous to weigh a weaver, and where diid "unlimited rods" come from?
we have to take into account that newbie anglers need to be given a chance.
there is a limit to 4 hooks, its up to you how you fish those 4 hooks. it just means people have a better chance of catching.

if people have to drive a 300 mile round trip they would like a chance of some good catches.

are you still saying it is unlimited rods?
because if i am right, I am orginising the bexi comp, and i think unlimited rods is a no go, most comps are usually 1 rod anyway, i conceded 2 rods because of the distance travelled, but unlimited is just plain silly. In theory someone could actually use 4 rods with a hook on each, and as we are meant to be attracting newby anglers to our first "club meet" this could well put a lot of people off.

well in fact thinking about it, unlimited rods is not happening, not at our comp anyway, not with DAB i,m afraid because no one will go for it. sorry

Gents............Lets keep things sensible here. Hook limit 4, Rod limit 2... PLEASE :kissing: 30+ anglers with any more than 2 rods each = a right mucking fuddle :schmoll:

I agree 2 rods, 4 hooks. I only have 2 rods!

I think mackerel should count, up to say 4 fish. It's certainly often a matter of skill to catch these off the beach in Sussex. Obviously we don't want it to turn into a mackie bashing session; however, if there's thousands about then all should be able to catch 4 and if they are less prevalent (50/1 on this will be the case) then it can take time and skilful effort to catch them. We could have a no feathers rule if people want that.

ok we have decided on a few rules.

2 rods, 4 hooks total
Comps to be fished one month apart
April, May, June, July (possibly August?)
Teams from Dorset, Hampshire, W Sx, E Sx, (kent?)
Venue to be called by host county with regard to catches
Final notice to be given say a week before date?

just a basic outline..

Not sure if I missed it, but is it catch and release? Will certain prolific fish (like doggies on Chesil) be a set weight, then returned? Or will you do weight to lebgth conversion? Or just sling everything in a bucket and weigh them all in dead at the end?

I think C & R length to weight is the way to go, personally.

I agree with that mate, and perhaps we can then use photographic evidence of each catch being measured, with a newspaper of that day in the shot too, as to avoid the cheats,.
So are we having a sweepstake on this or has this been arranged strickly as a friendly, sorry if i've missed anything, i have been too knackered to scroll through all the threads lately. Be nice if there was a pint or two paid for at the end of the day!

yes brad, thats a great idea. that way anglers dont have to run up and down the beach asking someone to sign a paper.

most people have cameras, so they take a pic, and record there catch them selfs. if there is any arguments over who caught something, the picture can be used as evidence. (not that it should have to get that out of hand, as its a friendly!!)

but the photo thing is a good idea.

jamie, i think the organising of each event, should be left to the team leaders of each region.

some dates have already been organised for team D.A.B.

It is a catch, measure and release competition ( optional if you want to keep your fish).

hope this clarifies a few things.

so you can have say 20 peaple from sussex v 10 from say hampshire?
how would that be a comp?
also a few suggestions on counting fish!

how about instead of weight we just leave it to length? not counting say eels (every eel no matter
how long bare congers counts as 10ins and the same with dogs?)
also how about setting the 2 teams up fishing alternate pegs! that way if you catch you simply have to walk to the next peg (to an oposing team mate, measure your fish infront of them and have them scrawl the length and have them sign it!
job done and no need for fish that dont wont to be kept to be out of the water to long and no need for everyone to have a digital camera with them! also more time fishing thos important few hours!

also with large countys like sussex would it not be better to have a east and west?
those anglers have a choice who they wont to join?
