right guys had an idea anybody fancy organising a meet for steetley pier ??

if we can get a meet sorted for mid-end march we could have a bit of a comp between forum members ..........i am prepared to put up some prize money if we get it off the ground ,,,,,say £100 ........so just turn up for a few hours fishing in daylight and go home with a bit of cash in your pocket .........you could even put up £1 a member and add it to prizes ...........:g: just a thought ....

look forward to your replies .......good idea ??? bad idea?????
please be gentle .....lol

Great idea P.I. but is there not a better venue? I dont relish leaving my car in that area, unless anyone can tell me where it's safe to park.

I think it's a great idea Ian :clap2: but £100 out of your own pocket is maybe a bit much don't you think?

Why not charge anglers £10 to enter on the day and then pay out the entrance fee as prize money? There should be a fair few interested in that. Also the only problem I can see is that everyone will want to fish the very end of the pier where the best catches come from, unfortunately there's not a great deal of room for anglers here, maybe ten at best?
Do we ban people from the end or draw pegs?

As I say this is a good idea, let's get our heads together and get this one arranged.

I will do my best to make it.

We now have a part of the forum that is dedicated to meets and charity events, this is near the top of the page.
I will leave this post where it is for a couple of days until our members get used to the new forum style and then move it to the correct part of the North East forum at a later date. J.V.:)

i'v never been to steetly but have heard a lot about the parking issues...i wouldnt feel settled leaving my car there either...is there not anywhere close where would be suitable to park and walk to the pier?

i think its a great idea but as people have said the mark is a little bit on the iffy for parking if we made the comp a little later on could have some great fun flatty bashing maybe go of the total length of fish to save killing them?

great idea i'm up for that but like the lads say everyone pays £10 and there's your prize money (maybe a different venue though a beach somewhere would be good:)

runswick would be a good venue.room for 100's of anglers.ample safe parking right next to the beach.public toilets open 24hrs.clean beach, mixed ground rough ground, deep kelp filled gulleys and scaur to fish over.all available at this venue and some nice fish being caught over the last couple of months.£5 entry fee including heaviest fish.£2 optional superpool for heaviest bag.£1 donation to RNLI.

i thought during the day there was still security on ?????..............lets get it going
nah mate no security at all now even the hut is getting done in i chanced it thursday and was ok till about 10pm ish but there was only 3 cars there, a load of cars is a different matter. Anyone know a none angler to watch the cars for a few hours £2 a car should make a few quid.

Think Runswick is a good idea or how about Sandsend to Whitby, again plenty of room but maybe fewer fish? Personally I would prefer most of the `prize` money to go to charity as the PR potential is always welcome for us anglers and it would make it more appealing to the less experienced/successful among us. Says the man whose best codling this season was 8 ozs lol! Whatever is decided I`m up for it and if anyone needs transport from Stockton lmk.
