I know this has all been covered before and I have looked at other posts via the search engine, but I am looking towards buying a new rod or maybe two (both the same). I fish mainly clean to medium ground.
The main criteria are great bite detection,
Holding up in a bit of surf (don't want a nodding donkey)
Don't care if it's thru action or j action on the cast, tho extra distance is always a bonus.
This is an enquiry about a rod for fishing as apposed to a distance casting machine with a stiff tip without bite detection.
At the moment I am using the Greys Syntra and Nitra rods, both rods I like for different reasons but they are different rods for different grounds.
Budget variable but will go second hand prob.
Thoughts at moment are with the Century Kompressor s.
I have a few weeks to mull on this so please any advice. I did find the replies to other posts variable and confusing a bit!
As long as the rod meets the set criteria any help is very welcome.

I can only comment on the rods I use.

Penn sidewinder. Avoid. Good casting rod and OK for heavy areas, poor bite indication.(Gave me tennis elbow and golfer's elbow)
Zziplex 2500. Beautiful fishing rod but the tip is affected badly by wave/wind etc and struggles in the rough stuff.
Zziplex HSM. Good casting, great bite indication, holds up well in tide and waves and plenty of power for bigger fish. Pricey though.

Hope this helps.
