what i like most about this video is seeing Arran do a proper Ebo pier cast at 2:45, I recall a thread on here when idiots who'd never fished the pier said I was stupid and careless to cast with a big swing under the pier! they didn't think it possible.... now they know!
was that big Az i heard when your guy was holding the 6lb7 hound... "bang it on the floor" ?? ..... now there's a man who can cook a hound, i remember him doing one in the tackle shop one night a few years back, marinade in yogurt, coke, onion and whatever else... gorgeous!!
Its all in the timing ting. Aran also flicks the lead sidewards at the last minute where there is a bit of room for the lead to swing. I tried it once but cracked off lolThat cast does look kinda technical. How does he manage not to get caught up under the floor?
swing out away from the pier, swing back under the steps pretty much (no cross braces tween the legs under them), let the rod dip, slam it, rod will compress as good as any OTG cast, i guess it's a 'low swing pendulum' of sorts!!! i usually have about a 8-10ft drop witha 13ft rod. That cast does look kinda technical. How does he manage not to get caught up under the floor?
easy to fish mate, unlike everywhere else where each angler clings to his little piece of railing like he's just mortgaged it, here you cast, then simply place your rod in the space where the line points, works perfectly!! rare to get a tangle that takes more than a minute to sort out!Must be a laugh a minute when one of those Hounds tangles up half a dozen lines - way to many rods in one little area - think I will stick to the wide open beaches
You use your headtorch to look where the lines are and place your rod as you would in the daytime. It is very rare you get tangled up. Sometimes you may have to lift your rod over the top of the guy next to you but thats no problem. The guys on the top deck all fish at range and hardly ever get in a tangle as hugh said. How exactly does that work after dark then?
