Hi lads,

Had to start a new thread as the other one was getting way too long!

following the success of the last Flamer trip (that was not cancelled) i have some new dates from Colin for 2011.
Please put your names down if you are interested. Rules are as follows...

Trips on Flamer are £60 per head unless otherwise stated.

If you are a member of S.E Anglers, if you want to use it, your deposit of £50 you have already paid to Pedro will count as the balance for the trip you put your name on. But you have to pay a £10 deposit to secure your place up front when the trip is filled with names.

Anyone who is NOT a member of S.E Anglers has to pay the £10 deposit when the date has been filled and the balance is due 2 months bofore the trip goes ahead.
If anyone pulls out for whatever reason, you get a refund on your deposit (if you have pulled out before the balance is due), or the full amount (if already paid) IF WE FILL YOUR SPACE.

Trip Species may change if the weather determines on the day!

Trips are all weekend dates and are as follows and if required he can give more dates...

I doubt I'll be able to make the 2nd October trip Ray but if anyone wants to make a weekend of it in Weymouth, I've already got a charter booked with Paul Davies on his cat (Katie Ann), on Saturday 1 October, there's a couple of spaces spare.

Good to meet everyone on Sunday a shame that the ling did not show. Went after flatties on the Monday with 6/7 keeper plaice across the boat on the mussel beds with quite a few smaller ones returned. 6/7 drifts down the shambles resulted in 1 turbot around 3-4lbs and I had a small plaice on a mackerel strip on a 4/0. Lets hope they are in the mood to feed in May.

Hi all.

1 space left for 1st May. Turbot, Brill, Plaice and a bit of Breaming. Anyone fancy joining us?

If we don't fill the space then Colin will be able to put someone in there, thats not a problem but it would be nice to get all the WSF lads together.

OR

Even worse, Cascars may step in at the last minute if he's not working and he's got a tendency to wearing only a mankini in Weymouth. It is not pretty!

(Was) looking forward to the trip. Will have to wear my Stevie Wonder sunglasses if The Big C turns up. :ahhh: "Now let me just stick this here worm on me 'ook."

"Oooh, sorry, Terry"

Hi lads,

As posted earlier there is still 1 SPACE LEFT for our flatty trip on Flamer 4 Targeting Turbot, Brill, Plaice & a bit of Breaming on 1st May.

Are we all in agreement that if nobody from this Forum would like to join us for a days great fishing that i can ask Colin to fill the space???
Any feedback would be appreciated as its getting closer to the trip now.

Anyone interested in a days fishing on Flamer 4 with us please PM me a.s.a.p

Just my twopennorth but I'd rather pay the extra and keep the numbers down.

Given the method of drifting the banks, we're all going to need to be fishing from the stern or one side of the boat. Drifting for flatties under the boat would be asking for trouble.

Thanks for your reply Dave. Im easy either way, i don't mind paying a little extra for the extra space and i don't mind if we fill the space to keep the price as it is.

Anyone else want to have their input???

Tell me bout it mate, we were out a few weeks back on it. Loads of fishing room!

Just to let all the crew know who are attending on 1st May, I will be contacting Colin on Monday to ask if he can fill the spare space that we have to keep the cost as specified on the day.
If anyone else other than Codhead and myself don't mind paying a bit extra on the day for a bit more fishing space PLEASE reply before Monday otherwise i will have to ask Col to fill the gap.

Cheers lads.

Senor Raymondo,

I have several questions for information in preparation for this weekend's trip (Sunday, 1st May):-

What are the times for meeting/boat departure & return?
Where can we/should we park cars?
Where are we meeting (cafe/quayside/tackle shop, etc.)
Where is the boat moored? There's a lot of moorings in Weymouth!
Where is the access point - at least two separate sets of moorings.
I do now have a map of the harbour - which helps - http://harbour.weymouth.gov.uk/harbourashore/maplibrary.aspx?sv=25

What tackle to bring?
What techniques should we expect to be using/ready for. Don't really want to bring the kitchen sink nor leave at home something critical. Nor get an email last minute on Saturday evening!

I'll be sea cliff climbing at Swanage on Saturday so won't have access to Internet/email on Saturday and will need to have all my gear ready on Friday. Best call or text my mobile on 07957 591883 for any news/updates/confirmation/cancellation, etc. Thanks.

Well done for arranging all this and looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.

I can answer some of that i think:

What are the times for meeting/boat departure & return?
Probably leave at 7 to 7.30 am and back about 4pm

Where can we/should we park cars?
Parking is easy but expensive: its £8 for the day

Where are we meeting (cafe/quayside/tackle shop, etc.)
At the boat

Where is the boat moored?
Its moored opposite the car park next to Weymouth and Portland Borough Council - which you'll see on google maps (North Quay). Opposite there is a little bridge/pontoon down to the boats in the quay.

Where is the access point - at least two separate sets of moorings.
I do now have a map of the harbour - which helps - http://harbour.weymouth.gov.uk/harbourashore/maplibrary.aspx?sv=25

If you find Weymouth & Portland Borough Council building on the map its directly opposite. Just zoom in.

What tackle to bring?

Colin is a great skipper and will tell all bit bring a lightish rod and reel loaded with braid of no more than 30lb.

A few leads from 3 oz to 12 oz. You'll be drifting for plaice and then for turbot. Do a search for plaice rigs on here and you'll see some suggestions including the skippers recommended rig. However a 4 foot trace with 5 or 6 beads and a 1/0 hook is as good as any. Then for turbot its a 6-8 foot trace 4/0 fine wire hook and a zip boom. Bait is mackerel strip. Use 20lb amnesia or flurocarbon for your traces.

Bring some mackerel feathers and some small hooks in case you have a go for bream.

Just to let you know lads that i have just spent 2 days fishing with Etec around Weymouth.

The banks are fishing a little slow at the minute with only a few Turbot being caught over the weekend (thats not to say they wont pick up by the time we get out!). There are plenty of Plaice being caught though from various marks, we had about 3 drifts at the end of the day resulting in around 8 or 10 red spots, some coming 2 at a time. All the boats around us were catching including Colin who enjoyed shouting accross to me each time another one of his party hit into fish. He did look flustered though running round with that net but i put that down to his age!
