Just seen some tronixpro hooks in the local tackle shop. There a bronzed uptide pattern they look similar to mustad vikings. Anyone used them before? Wonder if they bend out of snags as well as the vikings.
Strength wise ,How do these compare to Vikings. I use Varivas BMX for pretty much all my fishing which is generally for bigger fish I hate Vikings and regard them as fine wire hooks suitable for small fish only and don't want to buy these Tronix hooks if they are similar.I bought some of the beast hooks, although not the uptide ones in a 4/0 a few weeks back
I have used them for 4 sessions now and am very impressed with themthey have a nice fine point and a neat tidy barb thats not too prominent, theyalso touch up very easily with a fine stone.
I have had cod every session since I used them and not dropped any bites.
They dont feel as brittle as snapakumas and I flexed/bent one out of a snap with 30lb braid with no problems![]()
Cheers ,I'll get a pack and try them, Do you think they are strong enough for Rays ?. Id get 3/0's but don't want a hook that's going to bend easily.I would say similar to vikings in terms of strength, but ive never had any issues with vikings.
I also use vikings 4/0 on pulleys 1/0 on 3 hook rigs on the rough there my favourite hook. Strong bimini twist and they will bend out without snapping, there just getting harder to get hold of around my areaI like 4/0 and 6/0 Vikings for big worm based baits for codling and bass from the shore. I dont use hooks smaller than that for the fishing I do. Shame they don't make a 5/0 though. You'll struggle to bend a 6/0. I'll stick to Mustad - by the box they're not expensive and good hooks are worth their weight in gold. It's the very last item of tackle I'd scrimp on.
Cheers For showing the hooks close up, Its difficult to see what the look like from the pics on Ebay. I'll give them a go and see what I think. they look a similar shape to Sakuma/Varivas hooks.View attachment 1052242 View attachment 1052246 Just bought a few more packs an took some pics for those who have not seen the pattern
