So far in my fishing I have only used fixed spool reels and I would like to get a multiplier for beach fishing. It will mostly be sandy beaches, no real rough ground.

Has anyone ever used the "Tronixpro Envoy Mag" and if so would you recommend it to a newbie to multipliers or will it not suit my needs?

If anyone has any suggestions then I will gladly take them on board. Whether it be a more suitable reel for my situation or even a rod to go with it as that will be the next thing on the list. If I could get a rod and reel for under ÂŁ200 then that's good but if that's not achievable then it's no biggie. Would be nice to have something of quality after I've been scratching with cheap gear for so long.

Sucks to be clueless

Have a look below and see what you think. For the money 'New' nothings gunna touch it.
I would strip it and givve it a good lube before using it though.
Second hand for same price you may get a 7ht or abu? with all the pitfalls of buying 2nd hand

As for rods. these get good reviews

or a little known brand but again seems value for money

After watching the videos I think this is the reel for me. Good for a first timer, pretty good in general. Especially for the price. Hope I get on with it ok :)

That Leeda rod has my interest too. Not far off taking the plunge. Thanks again lads.

I use my left hand to reel in and my right hand to hold the rod. Does that mean I need a left handed reel? Pictures and conversations I have found via search engine have a lot of conflicting information.

Hi Phil, I've got a pair of the Tronixpro envoy orbit's ( the silver ones ) used them for the first time yesterday, I was impressed with them, they are the equal to my Abu's and Akios 65 sized reels, casting and retrieve are smooth, the handle is brilliant, far better than Abu's or Akios, nice and positive free spool button, wont trip easily into gear whilst casting, very good reel for that money.
As for the Leed Icon rods, in a nutshell, superb rods, so good they've replaced my Century's as the no 1 rod of choice, so much so I've got rid of my mk2 TT Sports as the Icon Powers are a much better rod IMO, I also use the Icon match's (these have relegated the mk2 TT supermatch's to the cupboard they're that good ) the match's are really nice to use, couple them with the tronixpro Silver reel (orbit) and you have an outfit thats a joy to use, just remember to give the reels a drink of oil in the bearings as they are quite dry when new.

Can't wait to get them now. Thanks for that information, just what I needed to hear. As soon as I figure out if I need a left handed or a right handed reel I'll be ordering. Already gone for the rod. Excited!

I do understand what you're saying but I would still rather reel in with my left hand with the multiplier on top. Just don't know if that means I need a left handed reel or right. Used a friends the other day with the reel handle on the right and found it rather awkward :(

I do that too, thought I was special? :) tronix reel looks ok if maybe feeling a little under engineered for me (I break everything I touch) Leeda icon m sport are awesome whatever one you chose. Match is much easier to use than the other two, much better introduction to proper rods and you'll never grow out of it because it's such a perfect 'fishing' rod. Lads down your way love their ron thompson axes too.

Awesome. All of this feedback is reassuring me even more. Hoping to get the Tronix ordered by the end of today so it can arrive nice and early this week. At least then I'll have some tinkering/spooling time before I go out and use it. I went for the match rod as I think it will suit the sort of fishing I'm doing and easier to use sounds good!

Just the information I needed. Thank you John!

I'm also right handed but I can only guess that when I started fishing as a kid my first reel must have been (by random chance) a leftie and that's what feels comfortable now. Funny how much of a difference it can make.

Just a quick update. I have the rod and reel safely with me but got let down on the line I ordered to spool the reel. New line should be with me tomorrow or Thursday and I'm hoping to get out and actually use it all on Friday evening. Not even too worried about catching anything. Just a few successful casts and a lack of birdsnests will make my night :D
