Hi Guys,

Wee trip to the caves mark arriving at 9am with high tide around 11ish but spot was already taken. Drove about a mile along to another mark which was a new one for me. Spinning for the usual mackies was really dire and had a small joey which was landed around 3pm. Double hook flapper with rag on the bottom produced steady bites throughout the day but couldn't hook the buggers. I had set up a third rod with the float and fished close in for the wrasse and was rewarded with steady catches throughout the day... again rag on number 4 baitholder hook. Eventually ran out of rag and began getting results with the local whelks, mussels and limpets from the rocks. Great bait limpet when its on... like leather.

A cracking day to be out and a new PB for me with a wrasse of 1lb 14oz. Also caught a wee strange looking fish if someone can ID please.

Cheers,
B

Sounds like you had a good day, nice pics too.I am hoping Loch long is slowly improving,I drove past the other week and it was alive with thousands of baitfish, I stopped and got out my telescopic rod(I always have set up in my boot)in the hope there where pollack or mackerel feeding on these but had no joy after 20 mins and i was late so had to move on.I think it might be worth another go in the near future in the hope that larger predators will come after these baitfish. Thanks for posting.
