For me it would have to be a Shakespeare Typhoon.
Very stiff, and so was the tip!!!
If you had a 100lb conger eel on it, the bite probably wouldn't show on it!!!

Shaky XK4000 bends like you got a shark on then turns out to be a rockling.

At the risk of putting a flame like thing to some touch paper of the blue variety....

20+ years ago I bought a Century Long EZ, and it snapped casting on the field.

Around the same time I had a Century Formula F40, which had a kevlar tip. Picture the scene. It's 4am. I'm at Runswick bay, North Yorks, and I've just wound in. I clear the leader knot, wind down to my lead, which has a handfull of weed around it, and swing it to hand. The top 18 inches of the tip fall off. I wasn't very happy.

Take your pick from either of the above.

Although i'm sure they're better now, I've never bought another century.

gravell HM surf, with the heavy tip, not much distance gained bite detection was really poor winding in with halfpound bass small pout sat there for ages, rubbish, bought the match tip waste of another 50 quid, was so floppy it was almost phallic, couldn set a hook with it couldn cast, total waste didn suit me.

Zziplex sst.

Advertised as a rough ground rod, it was like a stick of liquorice, floppy as owt. No use at all in the north east.

Didn't keep it very long.

Can't remember the exact name but it was on of my first rods a cheap combi Shakespeare IN2 Fishing Range 12 ft beach caster.. used it twice put it away for about 3 weeks and the top ring had rusted to the point were the struts (or legs) collapsed the next time I used it. Don't know why but I didn't expect a rod purporting to be designed for sea fishing to rust

:sneaky2: I've never had a really bad beach rod because I took up beach fishing late in life. I had a few rods I couldn't really cast with but that was down to me thinking dearer rods would cast further, not, what rod suited my casting style, or lack of, so it has to be a Vortex boat rod, I think the shop owner had it saved just for me. I explained that I was going out to the West Indies for 6 months and I wanted a rod to handle sharks as I had lighter rods from fishing locally but needed something heavier. Paired it up with a Penn Senator 4/0 and 50lb Dacron, a butt pad and some wire traces and I was set. Anchored off some island and was duty so couldn't go ashore, ideal. Lovely night, got the chefs to throw all the leftover food in the water and put a raw chicken carcase on the hook. 1/2 hour later had a good run, struck and the fight was on. Got a shark about 150lb on the surface, just dragging it to the ship's ladder when the rod snapped just above the reel. I went down the ladder, unhooked the shark, took the reel off the rod and threw the 2 pieces into the sea. Bought a cracking rod for half the money from the American PX at Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico and caught loads of big fish on it over the years, probably still got it somewhere.:sneaky2:

Ohhh, probably a Abu Renagade Tournenment.

Snapped 4 of them in a row, three were whilst casting, the last was beaching a monster whiting in the surf, must have weighed four or five ounces!

After that I bought a Zziplex F Zero and havent looked back.

That Abu was so bad, I prefered a Red Wolf Cheapie!!

Ive also snapped a Abu Tiger Fish and a Abu 3130 Zoom, Both whilst casting.

century tip tornado mark 1 12ft, just horrible
Got a love/hate relationship with a 13 ft version atm.

Worst rod has to be a winfield match rod I bought from woolworths over 25yrs ago.how they could call it a match I'll never know.way too stiff, was horrible.on the plus side,it was indestructible.tried snapping it by running and pushing the end into the groud, thing would just spring back.......god I hated that rod

never had no bad rods really all been very nice. cant really say my old blue and red beachcaster with the yellow tip was bad cause i was just learning with it and loved it when i was a kid probley my best birthday present iv had think it was a ryobi with a shakespeare reel. but the 1 rod i didnt get on with was a tip tornado sport which i got for christmas 1 year just felt soft and didnt suit my fishing cast, all other rods iv had have been good as there stiffer :bb: and suited my cast more. lately iv been looking for softer rods to practice pendulum with should have kept tt sport :bangin: primo syncro is what il practice with now though :fishing1:
