Where to fish on Isle of Mull

Hello
My two nephews are shortly to be going on holiday to the Isle of Mull and having recently purchased their first proper fishing gear are bursting to try it out! They are 12 years old - one has a beach rod (12ft...it dwarfs him!) and the other an 8ft general purpose spinning rod. They have a selection of lures, feathers and beach tackle (bombs, hooks, etc)
Having never been to the Isle of Mull myself I'm not too sure about exactly where/what to fish for the best results. Obviously I'd love for them to catch something as I'm sure they would then both be well and truly hooked!
So if anyone has any info/guidance on where is a good place to fish and what is the best method/tackle/etc, I would be very grateful

Many thanks
Ed

Hi Ed...
Well, I've never fished on Mull either....but, have a wee booklet about fishing on Mull...it says to try Shore fishing at Gribun, on the west coast of Mull..it says, and I quote...."Fishing at Gribun, with spinning rod and beachcaster I have landed dogfish.spur dogs, thornback rays, congers and Ling. Spin for Coalfish,Pollock, and mackeral. Using a float with Limpet bait can tempt good wrasse". As I say, I have fished the Sound of Mull many times, but this is the extent of my knowledge on the Island itself. Hope it is of some help.

Cheers.:)

mulls a big place! which bit you going to??

if you're in or near tobermory go into tackle and books and ask them, they'll have up to dat einfo.

theres always a few folks chance their arm of the peier in tobermory, but a sure fire spot for pollack/coalies and probably mackeral at this time of year will from the rocks around the lighthouse, northwest of tobermory. about 20 mins walk from tobermory 'town' centre

while you're in tackle and books... they do 3 hours fishing trips, all tackle included, and reasonably priced as well, leave tob' pier everyday either 12noon or 2pm
