Where I am in summer,a flat calm, windless evening or early morning fishing over either high or low works best.So the best times to fish coincide with the most pleasant:which is handy.I'd agree with you in winter though, good big easterly swell for us chases the cod close in.

Well at the moment this real angler has dipped out on fishing over high water tis evening. The rain is teeming down, and with a severe weather warning out, we have had to fetch the horses in, barricade part of the yard with plastic wrapped bales and sand bag the rest. Been flooded too often in the past few years to take chances. Can always fish tomorrow.

if i have a chance to fish then i will take it weather wont stop me! if its nice i will take the yak! if not i will take the waterproofs and 8 oz grippers

after reading the "life just got a little easier" thread, regarding shelters etc, i began having a nose around the other regional forums which normally i don't go into,

in every nook and cranny of this country we have got people whining and whinging, complaining they're bored and stuck at home because it's...

A, raining,
B, Windy
C, Both
D, too much weed
E, some other lame excuse.

what the hell is wrong with all you people? what does it matter if it's raining? thats what waterproofs are for. what does it matter if it's windy, the wrong tides, etc? fish don't just come out on nice nights or when the sun is shining, in fact, the better fishing is often when you really think to yourself "what the hell am i doing on this beach" when it's blowing a gale, big seas, pouring with rain, ice on the rods, etc etc,

the only time you shouldn't go out when planned is when
A, your skint,
B, you need to work to earn some more pennies to rectify 'A'
C, your car has broken down
D, your wife has just gone into labour (debatable, that one, )
E, some kind of family problem.

get off your backsides, stop whining and get fishing. if it's weedy at your preferred mark, try another mark, if you blank... so what? I'd be out at every opportunity if it weren't for A,B and E, regardless of the weather!!

where've all the real anglers got to?

they should get over here and fish in january, that will sort the men from the boys, or indeed the idiots from the lunatics :)
horizontal rain, blizzards, sea surface turning to ice and the catch freezing solid within a hour or so....oh yea we just love it....and will be out this winter doing the same again :)
mind you its been a great summer long hot days and little rain if a bit windy, shame i have not had much time to fish lol

5 hours on the beach last night in heavy rain; reward was a few pout  and a bonus lobster (already cooked up for tea). If you don't go out then you're not going to catch.

if you think im going to climb down 100ft of rocks in the wet then you are very much mistaken.....
since you're in kazakstan i have no idea of your local geology!!!! but, surely there are mark you could fish in the wet, other than the rocks?

:clap:Sorry but I've done the got soaked, got cold, dragged in tons of weed, stood there like a prat for 6 hours soaking wet, frozen to death for a "possible" bite, I now fish for pleasure. I don't have to catch tons of big fish for it to be a pleasurable experience, just the belief that there's a fish out there for me, or the company I'm in is pleasurable, or if alone, I'm communing with nature. No, standing in a howling gale, freezing to death while dragging in tons of weed is none of the aforementioned, Tuesday night at Selsey was all I needed to carry on and the pleasureable experience will last until the next one, not too far in the future I hope.:clap2:

That would be even more stupid than climbing down 100ft of rocks when they are dry:crazy::crazy::crazy: I dont mind rain but strong winds really pee me off!!!! Cant see bites, cant cast, rods blown over etc etc:thumbdown I dont go dangling when its like that simply because i wont enjoy the trip.

its near cornwall......

i find most places tend to not fish as well if there is a lot of fresh water running into the sea and 90% of my fishing is rock fishing for huss and eel so standing on a beach following the tide up and down in the wind and rain is just tedious!!! if im gonna fish extreme weather, and believe me i have, i would rather be set up on dungeness or sandwhich bay rather than holding on to rod rest perched on the edge of a rock with a big north coast swell.......sometimes bad weather makes fishing down here just too dangerous....

i can imagine that its fun in a force 8 westerly....almost as much fun as the helicopter ride back....
I have a feeling i upset a kayak angler the other evening,i would think he should have dangling to do instead of watching what i was doing.
