Which is the best UK port to charter for Cod this winter

I live in Milton Keynes

going to take my lad to catch a Cod say (7-8 LB) from boat just before Christmas, from which port do i maximise my chances of sucess.

Willing to travel but maybe Scotland a bit for too far as ill be driving?

which skippers too?

Ok looks li,ke i have options to the North SOuth and West of me, no doubt soemone will be along with one to the East of me too

thinking ill haev 4 trisp then from November to end of Feb in that case at each point of the compass.

Which fish best regards the Winter and Spring runs so i can plan a schedule

Gents thanks

got a port North, South, East and West of me,

makes a neat points of the compass itinerary for a season, and i'll get to try a few new places

to help put together a scheduel do any of those places recommended fish better in the Winter or Spring cod runs.

For the South East Now is prime time through until at least March
(Inshore) during the Summer months would be need to go further out and even then they are thin on the ground (well in recent years).
However, word on the grape vine is we could be in for a bumper year.

This August just gone i did 3 days out of Whitby and caught shed loads
inshore, best we had on the boat was 15 LB.

lovely boat, great couple of skippers, knows some good marks but fishing will probably die off from xmas onwards all along the east, till february with the arrival of dreaded sprats
