Can anyone give me any details on what the fishing is likely to be like in May/June, we have fished there last year and caught plenty of Wrasse to 3.5lb, few Pollock and Mackerel. If anyone can give me some tips, marks in detail, baits etc..for this general area it would be much appreciated , we are thinking of making a wekend of it so 2/3 sessions of fishing possibly, and if anyone local wants to meet up to show us around that would be great..

Cheers Dean

It's certainly on my list of marks to try this year, and likewise I know little about it!

I'd go as I do to most rock marks with a long-casting rod to bung feathers and heavy dex wedges out there alternating with float or bottom fishing on a spinning or carp-rod for wrasse, mini species etc, and possibly a heavy rod to leger a big bait in case there's huss etc about - if I can be bothered to carry 3 rods that is!

I havnt fished there for a few years but try Easthook Farm. There are good huss, conger and smooth hounds fall to peeler crab. You need to cast a fair distance and tackle loss can be expected. If you want more detailed info I would contact Martin (old dog) at Anglers Corner in Milford Haven. The telephone number is 01646 698899.

hi mate, fished there the other day, look back at 23/04/07 marloes. had a couple of wrasse loads of wrasse bites and a few missed fish on the big rods, another mark to fish in that area is not far from the carpark, if you follow the track down from the carpark til you get to the beach then go up the steps on your right then follow the path for about 200yrds then keep looking to your right and you will see a nice ledge, you could get about 4 people fishing in comfort off here and we had a good couple of days there last year.
and the mackrel fishing off wooltack point is un-belivable!, me and my mate had a challenge to see who could get the most mackys in 10 mins, i had 53 and he had 54, and there wher three boys on our left catching 7 at a time aswell!:clap3:

hope this is a help.

Wooltack Point is a Magic place. Make sure you wear sturdy boots/footware and keep an eye out on any swells if your close to the waters edge.
Great spinning action for pollack and mackerel and on the bottom big huss and dogfish galore and perhaps the odd ray. Mackerel and squid baits are good. Floatfish worm for the wrasse and spinners/feathers for the mackerel. You cant go wrong. The scenery is well worth the journey in itself!

I use Wooltack Point as part of my yearly HAJ (Happy Angling Journey) lol, will be paying the place a visit around the end of May.

Cheers for all the info guys trying to digest it all, I am more of an up channel angler here rarely venturing West, Im more of distance caster for Cod,Rays and Smoothounds and Bass. SO IF YOU were going down that way next Sat May 5th where would you go and what could you expect to catch at this time of year, I was after general fishing, not to tackle hungry, Wrasse, Mackerel Pollock and chance of decent Huss or Conger on the bottom or maybe a beach location for Bass..cheers in advance guys

:yeah: Yes what a place Wooltack the home of happy angling journeys:notworthy best to take a light rod for float or spinning.:yeah: king rag picks up the wrasse and pollock, bottom is best fished with a rotten bottom warning cast to far and you`ll end up pulling in a lobster pot or a diver and when the tide is running tackle losses are high:giveup:
Want a BIG tip travel light a few jenson or wedge lures in the 32g-60g range:unsure: enough to throw em a good distance wait a couple of secs then start retrieveing:clap3:
there was a write up about the place in a fishing mag last year you can catch all sorts down there but me and squid-u-like travel with just spinning rods and a small box of lures hope this helps

Wandered round the headlands today, just for a look as I have not visited before. What a beautiful mark, or marks!

Did take a rod and feathers, but nothing was out to play! Brought back half a carrier-bag of crap left behind by others, having seen the warning notice about anglers' litter at the first gate... the bag would have held fish if I'd contacted any but at least it did some good!

Looks wrassey, pollackey & very mackereliferous. So many ledges to choose from! Do people fish directly into Jack Sound, or into the slightly slacker waters on the W/N side of Wooltack Point? I'm impressed by the depth of water - a bit like Cardiac Hill on the Lleyn!

Would appreciate info as I would like to give this mark a proper try, with float and bottom-fished baits, lures etc - via PM if you like!

Cheers - John

hi john, we picked up a load of someone else's rubbish aswell, but i had to draw the line about getting the rubbish that was sitting in the numerous rock pools of p!ss!!:yucky:

as for where you fish, if you go all the way to the point and go down to the long ledge and go about half way across with skomer island on your left hand side and fish straight out, we cast out at various distances with the big rods and didnt get snagged or have the weight pulled out by the rip.
the only time we lost a few weights and traces was with the small rods in close to the kelp........a bit too close!

hope this helps. FLEX.
